1. An adventurer: Garrett McNamara
Garrett “GMAC” McNamara has become
famous for surfing waves. He's an extreme
waterman because he broke the world record
for having the largest wave ever surfed at
Nazaré, Portugal; to surviving a monstrous wave at Jaws and riding tidal waves
from calving glaciers in Alaska.
In his career Garrett McNamara has surfed different waves and he has travelled
to lots of countries and places in the world. He began surfing at Sunset, Waimea
and the other reefs near Sunset. In lots of his travels he didn't go alone, he was
accompanied by his young brother, Liam McNamara, his friends or his parents.
Finally, he became the man all over the world surfing the biggest wave
(approximately 90 feet) in the history of surfing.
In one of his famous adventures, he travelled to Hawaii to compete with
Resende to Win Tow-In World Cup. When they started surfing that day there
were huge waves in the range. The adventure was a vertical wave that is
virtually impossible to paddle with human arms. The wave fell down. Many
people were under the wave, there were surfboards, jetskis and surfings but there
were no serious injuries, so it was good news.
I don't know if Garrettt McNamara will go surfing next, but I think there will be
an amazing wave, he will have to be very careful.
