Who here knows about Tindie?
Marketplace for helping indie hardware startups
Qr code clock - feb 2013
most successful project up to that point and it almost killed the seller
However it basically brought the seller to their knees.
We’ve gotten into a path where people see this and forget
This was the first GoPro went on sale in 2004.
So you say well that was a different time, how would it have launched today?
Today we forget this key fact. People expect polish and it ship now. Both of which are unrealistic
so to help those bootstrapping projects, companies we launched Tindie
we’re a marketplace for indie hardware things from raspberry pi to go pro to robots
If you havent manufactured anything before, it seems crazy ot jump in at 100mph. I wonder what the success rates between crowd funding and american idol..probably similar success rates for home runs
Example then of a bootstrapped project
temperature, humidity, air pressure, light levels, UV levels, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and smoke level
Crowding around table assembling parts
the result, mounds of product
so how can we help more people go from idea to finished product and ship?
we know makers are good at making ,but not manufacturing
Annoucning Tindie U… content, and videos for people to learn how to commercialize their product.
Starting next week in
Also launching with Arduboy
On display at our table at MakerFaire
