Los Roques Is just north of Caracas. This beach is
part of a national park and is one of the biggest
reservoirs in the Caribbean.

• Also north of Caracas, Margarita beach is a
Caribbean island. Being and island means it is
surrounded by water, thus 360° of beach!

• The Hallaca is a food that has
been around in Venezuela
since the colonial ages.
• The Hallaca is made from
plantain leafs and has various
fillings. Mostly meat though. Oesp 1506

16. Hallaca
• The Hallaca is prepared by either putting
stewed or rare meats into the leaf.
• Then you wrap string around the leaf to
hold it together and boil it in water.

18. Venezuelan
Independence
• For Venezuela to gain her independence,
they had to fight off the Spanish for a total
of 12 years.
• Their First Republic collapsed in 1810, one
year before the revolt against Spain.

20. The final battle!
• The battle of Carabobo, was the major
battle of the Venezuelan revolt against
Spain. This battle took place in 1821. The
war finally ended in 1823, creating the
Venezuela we see today.
