  • 1. Placed behind the subject and this separate them from the background. This helps soften the shadows and is normally placed on the side of the subject.Lights up the subjectbut this can createshadows.
  • 2. Gel: transparent gels that areplace in front of the light. Thishelps balance coloursLastolite: they aim to light darkspots on subjects and diffuseunwanted shadows Barn Doors: these are lights with shutters which can alter the position of lighting.
  • 3. Using Key lighting, lights up thesubject but also creates ashadow. Using a red gel weadded a red effect on the image.This mid close up, we tried to lightone side of the subjects face andon the other side create a darkside. We also used a green gel tochange the colour balance togreen.
  • 4. Using fill lighting we created a midshot of the subject with a close upof the subjects hand, we alsoused a green gel to diffuse thelight.Using key lighting and a red gelwe tried to create a shadow andalso creating a light and darksides on the subjects face.
