Secret Keeping is hard work. Most people fail at it. Ensure you do not have a secret keeper in your employ - if you do it is difficult to dismiss him or her.

3. Secret Keeping – The
academic subject
Secret Keeping is a phenomenon that has existed since the
early existence of the world
Many have been practitioners of the craft but none has
attained mastery
The subject isn’t offered in any college or university
It is a subject that has never been taught
No one has attained a distinction in secret keeping
Whenever it is time to be assessed the secret keeper buckles
under the pressure
4. Securing a Secret
You can secure your house, car or property using electronic or
physical security but your secret cannot be secured by these
means
As a matter of fact you cannot trust anyone to be a keeper of
your secret
You can never offer sufficient compensation for one to be
loyal to the job
You never want to employee a secret keeper that quits. If you
do, the secret can never be secured again.
5. Employment in Secret
Keeping
Secret keeping is not an entrepreneurial venture
No one voluntarily dedicates time and energy to secret
keeping
No one gives referrals to persons about good secret keepers
they know
There are no perks to the job, no year-end bonuses or
incentives
Secret keeping is a job that is often thrust upon an individual
and at the first opportunity, he/she will quit because it is hard
work.
6. Co-workers in the profession
Secret swapping is a technique often practiced among
individuals.
If one has a secret for someone else, to have insurance on the
secret; the other individual (the initial secret owner) will ensure
that he has a secret to keep for the other party (the initial
secret keeper)
The danger with secret swapping is that if the relationship
between the two secret keepers go sour then the insurance on
all secrets will be cancelled – no further coverage is
guaranteed.
7. Getting out of the job
You cannot fire a secret keeper – that’s the last thing you want
to do
The secret keeper cannot be fired because you cannot fire
someone that wasn’t hired
You can only ensure that the secret keeper continues his/her
job because if he/she quits or abandons the job you’re in
trouble
There is only one way to get out of the job and that’s to share
the secret – you’ll lose the job by default.

Things that are done in the dark will affect your character: it either
builds it or breaks it.
