2. About 45% of people choose not to vote in
election. Some feel that their vote will not
make a difference, this needs to change.
People have fought and died for the ability to
vote. Using the right to vote is a way that you
show those people respect.

president of the United States. At this time only
rich white males who owned property were
allowed to vote and were seen as superior.

this day, we must recall darker times.

Jamestown. They did not arrive in brave ships in search of a
home for freedom. They did not mingle fear and joy, in
expectation that in this New World anything would be
possible to a man strong enough to reach for it.
They came in darkness and they came in chains.
And today we strike away the last major shackle of those
fierce and ancient bonds. Today the Negro story and the

8. Women in the 1920โs in America were getting
tired of being left out of people who could
vote. They wanted to be full citizen of the
country and be seen as equals to their
spouses. They wanted the right to vote and
they fought for it.
9. In 1965, President Johnson signed the Voting
RIghts Act of 1965. This act outlawed using
the literacy test to determine people
eligibility to vote.
10. 26th amendment lowered the voting age to 18
instead of 21 the drafting of soldiers as young
as 18 for the vietnam War.
