Effective, Smarter Online and Social Learning Approaches: Presented at Royal New Zealand College of GPs Education Convention May 18, 2014 by Sue Dark, Director of Learning Consulting- Kineo Pacific. Summary: Our working and learning environments have changed considerably over recent years and the continuing pace of change is a challenge for us all. We have to be smarter, more efficient and have the right strategies in place to help our people develop in line with change. Today’s practitioners expect to have access to knowledge ‘just-in-time’. Our distributed networks of learners, tutors and experts need to collaborate and develop in ways which do not require huge amounts of downtime travelling or being out of the office. The challenge of providing more flexible, collaborative and just-in-time learning is being met through innovate approaches to learning delivery. Many organisations are using online learning resources and social media to enable practitioners to develop at times which is more convenient for them. Furthermore, opening up knowledge sharing to national networks of experts and learners can result in richer learning opportunities. This session explores with the audience the various innovations in learning delivery which can be used today. It will be a collaborative session with practical opportunities to share ideas about how conference delegates’ existing programmes could be turned into a blend of learning delivery modes. www.kineo.com
