Editor's Notes
1
The Navy’s is planning a Field Carrier Landing Practice detachment Aug. 1 – 10 at Wallops.
Some 150 sailors and support personnel will be coming up to the area during that time
As we’ve mentioned before, this program is really important for Wallops in helping us maintain our airfield
It also provides critical training for Navy pilots, certifying those pilots to land on aircraft carriers
We have Global Hawks returning to the facility for a fifth year Aug. 12.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is using the Global Hawk platform for its Sensing Hazards with Operational Unmanned Technology (SHOUT)
The data obtained from these flights will help hone hurricane modeling
