4. William T. Pelletier, Ph.D.
I’m a mathematician who has spent over 40
years researching Bible-Science topics.
I have taught many classes on these issues,
and have repeatedly debated evolutionist
professors in university forums.
I specialize in explaining scientific issues from a
Biblical base.
I have a Ph.D. in mathematics.
Major career positions include
• University mathematics professor teaching
undergraduate and graduate math courses at
several universities.
• Software developer and analyst for a Fortune
100 company. Responsibilities included
analyzing computer systems and developing
CAD/CAM software to mathematically model
automotive parts and design dies
5. Description of Calculations
Based on the numerical values in Genesis; the length of the time period, the life-spans,
generation lengths, number of generations and childbearing ages were analyzed using an
electronic spreadsheet called Mathcad 7.
The results were plotted and range of probable values determined, representing the world
population at the time the flood occurred. The chart covers from the creation (FC) of Adam
until 1656 years where the flood is believed to have occurred.
Conclusions
Although it is impossible to calculate the exact value of world population at the time of the flood,
5 to15 billion people would appear to be reasonable populations, with an average
of around 10 billion*

30 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have
obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; 31 but the people of Israel, who pursued
the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. 32 Why not? Because
they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works.
They stumbled over the stumbling stone. 33 As it is written: “See, I lay in Zion a stone
that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall
13. Regarding Moses and his
“writing” of the Tora,
(the first 5 books of the Bible):
First a little history lesson
on how the written word came about…
14. Egyptian hieroglyphs – as many as 5000 symbols. Carved on rock, wood or papyrus.
Dates back almost 4000 BC. (in other words, till the time of Adam and the creation)
Used in Egypt by highly trained scribes at the Royal court, in the temples and as
a military communication tool.
It is likely that Moses – an Egyptian “prince” was familiar with this writing system
when he grew up in Egypt about 1500 BC. (by then this script was already 2500 years old)
The oldest writings in history:
15. The cuneiform writing system. Also called the Sumerian script.
Dates back to 3400 BC – comes from Ur I Iraq – where also Abraham came from.
It writes from left to right. More than 100.000 tablets are found and translated.
Some are in Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. A total of 2 mill+ tablets are
found but not yet translated.
16. The Phoenicians invented the 22 letter alphabet as late as 1300 BC.
(200 years after Moses death).
There was also an ancient Hebrew symbol system (pictogram), but this was abounded
for the Aramaic Phoenician letter system in the sixth century BC.
This dramatic event is recorded in the books Ezra and Nehemiah in the Bible.
The Jewish “mezuzah” with a
pictogram is put on the door.
“And you shall write [the words that I command
you today] on the doorposts of your house and
on your gates” Deuteronomy 6:9, 11:19
17. What language was “the 10 commandments” written in?
Sorry to say – at the time there was no written language like we read and
understand the written word today.
( the written language was, as we just have learned, not invented until
200 – 300 years after Moses’ death)
So what language was used?
Precise “oral quotations” - built on memorization - partly assisted by
ancient Hebrew pictograms. (stone tablets and possibly some papyrus scrolls)
Hold on to your hat: This applies to all the 5 books of Moses.
That’s why the Jewish tradition of exact memorisation is so important.
Moses showed “pictures” and told stories. And so it went on for
several generations before some scribes, most likely trained in the art of
the Phoenician alphabet, wrote it down as the Rabbi's told all the stories.
(accompanied by pictograms)
Does this make the “scripture” questionable? Absolutely not.
The word is still God’s holy inspired word.
But let’s be honest about it: Moses did not write down the Tora.
Scribes did - hundreds of years later.
18. Does this mean that Moses wrote Genesis without reference to any previous oral or
written information? Not necessarily.
Genesis comprises narratives of historical events that occurred before Moses was born.
Moses may very well have had access to patriarchal records and/or reliable oral
traditions of these events.
In that case, such records would certainly have been preserved by being written
(probably on clay tablets) and handed down from father to son via the line of
Adam-Seth-Noah-Shem-Abraham-Isaac-Jacob, etc.
There are 11 verses in Genesis which read, ‘These are (or ‘This is the book of’) the
generations of …’ The Hebrew word toledoth translated ‘generations’ can also mean
‘origins’, ‘history’, or even ‘family history’.
“This is the family history” – as told by the fathers.
The most likely explanation is that Adam, Enoch, Noah and Shem, each wrote an
account of the events that occurred either right before or during his lifetime, and
Moses, under the infallible inspiration of the Holy Spirit, selected, compiled,
and edited these to produce Genesis in its present cohesive form.
19. These tablets are incorrect in the sense they are written in Hebrew letters–
They most likely was written in in Hebrew symbol pictograms.
And this man is not Moses – it is Charlton Heston.
20. Moses wrote the book of Genesis
in the 15th century BC.
That was 2500 years after Adam.
The books of Enoch,*
the first books in history,
was written** approx. in year 3000 BC,
1550 years before Moses
and only 950 years after Adam.
**) Enoch did not personally WRITE his three books – but just like Moses,
oral storytelling in combination with ancient Hebrew or Sumerian pictograms
carried the exact story forward until it could be written down almost 1800 years later.
*) Contrary to Moses, Enoch’s writings never reached the recognition and status
of Moses’ writings – most likely for it’s radical content – and in spite of the fact
that Jesus and others in the New testament quotes “the prophet Enoch” several times.
Moses most likely was very familiar with the writings and content of the books of Enoch.
26. King Salomon – he built the first temple
Salomon loved the woman – he had “1000” wife's
