Common elements
The assumption of the urban grid as the model input
The assumption of connection between spatial elements
as the basis for the appraisal of configuration
Distinguishing elements
The way of reducing the urban grid into a system
The definition of the spatial elements of the system

3D Ma.P.P.A. actually carries configurational analysis
into the third dimension, taking orography into account
The three-dimensional extension of Ma.P.P.A. provides
results that appear so brilliant as to (slightly) improve
those of the existing techniques
3D Ma.P.P.A. actually integrates and completes
Ma.P.P.A., which can be assumed as a particular case,
lighter on a computational regard and hence suitable for
flat settlements
