Florence Design Week is a multi-
disciplinary and creative project
designed to communicate the identity
of individuals, businesses, cultures,
ans societies to the world.
Life style, pleasure, art de vivre,
environmental sustainability, a mix of
business and network, virtuous
contamination, make Florence again
the center of the aesthetic debate to
express visual, functional, ethical
beauty in the world.
The Festival is therefore a must for
industry experts, professionals,
entrepreneurs, companies, teachers,
students, creative Italians and
foreigners.
Design United is the theme of the 2016
edition, dedicated to creativity.
Florence Design Week, aims this year
to promote the collective dimension of
design and creativity, encouraging
exchanges between various cultures.
The creative process is usually not a
solitary activity and includes group
participation right from the conceptual
phase of a project. Even the most
solitary of the designers finds
inspiration and reference to the society
in which he lives and aims his work to
one in which he would like to live; good
d e s i g n t e n d s t o u n i o n a n d
communication rather than to
separation.
Florence Design Week this year is
dedicated to the most creative cities
that integrate people of different
cultures through design, to designers
who welcome inputs from different
disciplines, and to design solutions that
include a strong ethical and sustainable
orientation.

3. The Festival has obtained in previous
editions the patronage of the President
of the Republic and the awarding of two
medals, the high patronage of the
Ministry of Heritage and Culture and the
Ministry of Youth, the patronage of
Tuscany Region , Province of Florence,
Florence City Council, Council of
Calenzano. In 2015 hosted with great
success "Design your Innsbuck" in
collaboration with the city of Innsbruck
and "V4 Young design and spring
emotions" in collaboration with
Consolato Onorario della Repubblica
Ceca per la Toscana e Associazione
Culturale Italo-Ungherese della Toscana
supported by Visegrad Fund. In 2014 the
Festival hosted with great success
"Become a Awakener" a competition
sponsored by the European Commission
in the context of the Generation Awake
campaign, designed to promote the
principles of upcycling and the reuse of
materials among young creatives.

35 events, seminars, conferences, workshops and other activities performed at the
Festival, 40 projects of public events, 60 Launch events, shows, exhibitions,
showcases and more 100 organizations and partners who have contributed and
participated.
Approximately 35,000 visits to the events listed in the program as part of the
second edition. Visitors are composed of four main groups: -consumers /
citizens / businesses (30%) -design professionals (45%) -design students (13%) -
foreign visitors (42%) !The more than 15 countries around the world have been
recorded in the period of the festival.
