Hong Leong Bank Vietnam launches PEx+, a QR code-based merchant payment function on the Hong Leong Connect Mobile app, enabling its users to make payments to selected retail outlets with their mobile phones.

Simple, convenient and secure payment with just a scan of the smartphone.
Hanoi, Friday 31st October - Now smart-phones are able to replace payment through cash or card. Hong Leong Bank Vietnam (HLBVN) has launched the new PEx+ payment service using technology on smart-phones without the need for cash or card.
The PEx+ service was introduced as the first in this market at Parkson stores located in Le Thanh Ton and Hung Vuong in Ho Chi Minh City as well as Viet Tower in Thai Ha, Hanoi from 31st Oct 2014. “It is indeed a privilege for us to partner with Parkson for the maiden launch of PEx+ in Vietnam. The young, tech-savvy fast growing middle income segment in Vietnam offers vast potential and we anticipate a successful partnership with Parkson in bringing this innovation to our customers” said Le Min Tam, General Director of HLBVN.
Meanwhile, Tham Tuck Choy, Chief Executive Officer of Parkson Vietnam said, “Parkson is delighted to be the first partner of Hong Leong Bank in Vietnam, to offer the convenience of PEx+ as an innovative way for our customers to pay for their purchases. We are confident that there will be wide acceptance of mobile payments for our increasingly tech-savvy and rapidly- growing market.”
The PEx+ payment service revolutionises the way retail customers pay for their goods and services through simple steps. An account holder of HLBVN only needs to select the PEx+ function on the smart-phone’s home screen, input password and then scan the merchant’s QR code over the counter. Payment will be confirmed with just a swipe – fast, convenient and secured.
According to Raja Teh Maimunah, Chief Operating Officer of Digital Innovation & Transactional Banking of Hong Leong Bank Berhad (the parent company of HLBVN headquartered in Malaysia), “we are excited about the PEx+ potential for Vietnam and this is just the beginning of a journey that will solidify HLBVN’s positioning in the burgeoning Vietnamese market. This is very much in line with our strategic direction and is just one part of our wide range of digital and electronic banking offerings.”
To use PEx+ payment service a customer needs to download the Hong Leong Connect (the digital banking services of HLBVN) application on App and Play stores.

2. Hong Leong Bank Vietnam
The interbank transfer facility on Hong Leong Connect has also been made available since Friday 24th October 2014 and it is supported by Smartlink - where customers have 24-hour access to 25 banks on the Smartlink network. To commemorate this launch, customers will be offered preferential tariff for transactions on Hong Leong Connect.
