2. South African statesman Nelson Mandela
described his thoughts when he was
released after 27 years of imprisonment for
opposing apartheid: “As I walked out the
door toward the gate that would lead to my
freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my
bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in
prison.”
Lo statista sudafricano Nelson Mandela
descrisse i pensieri che ebbe al momento
della sua liberazione dopo ventisette anni
passati in carcere per la sua opposizione
all’apartheid: «Mentre m’incamminavo
lungo quel corridoio verso il portone che mi

3. We've all experienced the feeling of being
rejected or hurt by someone's words or actions.
It's natural to become hardened or bitter or
resentful, or to be overwhelmingly discouraged
or despondent, or to get angry with the person,
or to retaliate. The problem is, because you're
hurt, you often don't have a very clear
perspective on the situation.
When someone wrongs us, we must learn
to forgive and ask God to let His love fill our
heart. It's the only way to keep from being
hurt by bitterness, wrath, and anger.
Tutti abbiamo provato la sensazione di essere
rifiutati, oppure feriti dalle parole o dalle azioni
di qualcuno. È normale diventare insensibili,
arrabbiati o risentiti, o di sentirsi abbattuti e
scoraggiati oltre misura, oppure arrabbiarsi con
quella persona, o restituire l’offesa. Il problema è
che, a causa di come ci si sente, spesso non si ha
una prospettiva molto chiara della situazione.
Quando qualcuno ci fa un torto, dobbiamo
imparare a perdonare e chiedere a Dio di
riempire il nostro cuore d’amore. È l’unico modo
per evitare d’essere colpiti dal rancore e dalla
collera.

4. No matter how hard it may be to
forgive, your situation can't improve until
you take that all-important step.
Forgiveness is letting go of resentment
and ridding yourself of negative thoughts.
All they do is make you miserable.
The path of forgiveness seems difficult
and bumpy at first, but the longer we
travel it, the smoother it gets.
Per quanto possa essere difficile
perdonare, la tua situazione non può
migliorare finché non fai quel passo
importantissimo.
Il perdono è sbarazzarsi del
risentimento e sbarazzarsi dei pensieri
negativi.
All’inizio la via del perdono sembra

5. What greater triumph is there than to bring
good out of bad? That’s the ultimate way to
conquer our hurts—not by bitterness and
thoughts of getting even, but by allowing
God to set us free from that bitterness or
other ill feelings and bring about beautiful
victories.
Non esiste trionfo maggiore che trarre il
bene dal male. È il modo migliore di
superare le ferite del passato, non con il
rancore e il desiderio di vendetta, ma
consentendo al Signore di renderci migliori.
