3. THE COMPOSITION
Your picture should be well composed.
The rule of third, the golden ratio, the
symmetry are the most used
composition tricks. The strong points in
your picture are the focal points - use
them wisely.

4. THE STORY
Does your picture tell a
story? It should as stories
are the most universal way
to communicate emotions,
events and facts. Make sure
your picture tells a story

5. THE EMOTION
Your picture should not only tell a
story. Emotions help get attention.
Use all basic ones - happiness, fear,
anger, disgust. Use also symbols that
always act as emotional attractors
(heart, children’s eyes, puppies, etc.)
Just remember to use them wisely
and accordingly.

6. THE COPYRIGHT
Use the pictures legally. Never simply copy
them. Respect credits. You can either use your
own pictures, use the Creative Commons
licensed ones or buy them at stocks. I prefer
the first two options. Especially that you have a
lot of great CC pics out there. Just check out
www.compfight.com.

7. THE RESOLUTION
Pictures should be great. And by great I mean
good resolution. The higher resolution the
better but the minimum is 1024 px as it gives
you the certainty that your pictures will look
great even on a huge screen. When
downloading the picture always choose the
highest resolution. If eventually the file (entire
deck) becomes too heavy you can always
compress it and optimise the size. Easy!
