Ellinor Lindqvist Fashion Marketing and Communication Assignment The Future of TVI think that the evolution of the TV contains a lot of changes. And that we no longer
Ellinor Lindqvist Fashion Marketing and Communicationwill use the television in the same way that we have been doing for the last decades.Of course we will continue to watch programs and movies for our entertainmentssake. But I believe that the way we use and interact with the TV is going to bedifferent. There are already a lot of changes going on today and the network and cablecompanies are trying to follow the new trends.I don’t have a TV-set and I haven’t had one for a couple of years. I use my computerto watch series and films. Nowadays you can enter websites that allow you to watchnearly everything online. This means that instead of having to wait for a certain dayfor instance, Wednesday at 18 pm you can watch your favourite show whenever youwant. Streaming online gives the viewer more power. It also has other advantages, people can rate and comment on programs or movies. They can discuss differentmatters and interact with each other. In Sweden al the big channels have something called play. It allows viewers to watchthe networks programs via Internet. The different channels encourage viewers to visittheir website. You can chat with a contestant from a reality show, follow their bloggor watch and old episode of a series. The website gives the TV more dimensions andallows people to be interactive and communicative. I think that the viewer will havemore power over what programs they want to see and when they want to see them. I also think that in the future the TV will function like a computer and that wewill watch everything online.I imagine that in the distant future the TV-room will disappear. Instead people willhave entertainment rooms with screens and different technological equipment likesimulators. There is a 3D trend today and maybe that is something that will becommon in the future, all movies and series will use this effect. There could be role-playing were you get to play one of the characters in a show. Or you get to decidehow a movie ends. With al these effects the experience of watching TV will becomemore interactive.I hope that the format will change also. If you think about it a TV is quite ugly andtakes up a lot of space. With time maybe they will get thinner and lighter andsomehow you can fold them together. I imagine them looking something like an ipadand everyone having on of their own.
