2. Carlingford
Carlingford was our
first trip as a class and
year group. It was one
of the best experiences
of my life and I got to
try things that I never
would have done like
Zorbing, Kayaking,
laser tag and high wire
course. We all bonded
so much over the two
days and i think I
speak for everyone
when I say that I
would love to go back!
3. Fun walk
The Fun Walk is an annual event in the school where students walk
around the town for charity. Each year is given a colour and each class
must choose a song and create a dance to it! This year , the TY colour was
yellow and we chose the song ‘Hey Ya’ by Outkast.
4. Mini-Company
Every Year , all of the TYs take part in the Mini-
Company competition. Our Mini company is called
SnapShot Frames and we make hand designed
MAGNETIC frames. Our minicompany has been
quite successful and we have sold 30 frames in total
so far. On the 21st of January, Two judges from the
enterprise board came to the school to judge our
mimi companies. The 14 Ty mini companies all set
up stalls in the school hall, and each group gave a
presentation about their project.
5. Junk Kouture
Junk kouture was only introduced into the school this year.
The idea of junk kouture is to create something
fashionable, using only recycled materials. Our idea( on
left) was to use cds, cassette tapes, earphones and music
manuscript. A fashion show was held in the school and
prizes were given to the top two designs in each class.
Luckily our design was good enough to come second out of
our class.
6. Briary Gap
competition
In October we began working on our
dramas for the briary gap
competition. The whole experience of
getting to write and perform our
drama was amazing. We decided to
get the inspiration for our dramas
from the Millennium development
goals. The class was split into two
groups- one group did their play on
homelessness and the other on The
effects of wars. I thoroughly enjoyed
the experience and would gladly do it
again
7. My TY experience
The past five months of TY have been some of the best
that I have ever experienced. I have made friends who I
have shared my experiences with, and I have gotten to
try things that I never would have tried if I hadn't
chosen TY. I have gained new skills and my confidence
has grown. I am so happy that I did choose to do the year
and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is on
the fence about choosing to do TY.
