relying on for navigation – from searching on long a journey

smartphones will driving.

free mapping service around.
What’s this all about?
3. Street View
Street View was launched in 2007 as a way to improve
interactive user experience by letting people recognise the
area surrounding their destination.
The algorithms used are similar to computer vision and
machine learning, as they extract features such as street
numbers, names of businesses and other points of interest,
such as speed limits and traffic signs.
4. Human monitored technology
Google doesn’t solely rely on algorithms and satellites; it
employs a small team of operators to check and correct maps
using an in-house program called Atlas.
In Atlas, what the operator sees looks similar to the satellite
map view but with unfamiliar coloured lines and symbols. An
operator can fix a road that is out of alignment with the satellite
image by clicking and dragging colour coded lines into
position.
