Since its inception in 1994, the Harris Center at MGH—formerly
the Harvard Eating Disorders Center—has been dedicated to
improving the lives of individuals suffering from eating disorders.
Internationally renowned expert David B. Herzog, M.D. is the Harris
Center’s founder and director as well as the Harvard Medical School
Endowed Professor of Psychiatry in the Field of Eating Disorders.

The Harris Center spearheads research in children and adults on the
causes and treatments of eating disorders:

Neuroimaging and neuropsychological testing
Treatments for bone loss
Defining “What is an eating disorder?”
Patient Care
The Harris Center team offers psychological and pharmacological
therapy to individuals of all ages and families. The Center works with
primary care physicians to provide treatment. Staff also provides
consultation.
Education
Matina S. Horner, Ph.D. Summer Research Fellowships provide
mentorship to outstanding junior investigators
Postdoctoral Clinical and Research Fellowships train professionals
to be leaders in the field
Annual Public Forum disseminates information, encourages
discussion, and reduces stigma
Harris Center’s Unlocking the Mysteries of Eating Disorders
(McGraw-Hill) addresses the questions most frequently asked by
patients and families
Advocacy
At the state and national levels, the Harris Center works to ensure
patients receive the treatment they need.
