- 2. This is the magazine advertisement for Katy Perry’s ‘One of the Boys’ album. The typography which is the artist's name, release date of the album, title of the album and a track that is included in the album. All the writings are placed on the right hand side of the advertisement and this is convenient because it enables the audience to focus on the main image. The name of the artist is written in big bold vibrant dark pink colour and the purpose being is to emphasise who the artist is. The font that was used for the artist’s name is very appealing to the eyes, it stands out amongst the other text. The information about the album is written in a white bold font which makes it pop and attracts the audiences’ attention. It is very important to add the release the date for the album because some of the biggest fans might want to get it instantly. The name of the album which is ‘One of the Boys’ is placed underneath her name and it written in stylish curly font and the colour is in blue which links to the name of the album and this is because boys are commonly associated with the colour blue. The artist is making direct eye contact with her audience implying that she wants them to buy her album. It makes the audience feel like the artist is personally selling the album to them. This is important for them to feel because what is the point of buying the album if the artist is not passionate about it and excited about her fans buying it. The magazine advertisement also included the website of the artist and this is very convenient for the audience because it allows them to find out more about the album and the artist herself. The text of the website is a lot smaller compared to the rest and this is probably because it is not something that audience would normally look for when looking at a magazine advertisement. The background of the advertisement includes a white picket fence and in America, this is one of the symbols for the ideal middle class family in a suburban area. This ideal family would include a perfect nuclear family with perfect lifestyle. This then suggest that the album would be suitable for people who lives a lifestyle like this, such as living in a suburban area. The language that was used in the advertisement is very simple and basic; it goes straight to the point. It does not use complex words to confuse the audience. The magazine advertisement also included an image of the album cover showing the audience what the cover is going to look like and what to look for on shelves in shops. The costume gives a sense of vintage feel. She looks like she is dressed in a typical 1950s pin up girl type fashion and reflects the genre of the album which is pop and pop music usually targets female audiences. The camera angle that was used is a long shot and it shows her whole outfit. The amount of skin she is showing and her posture makes her looks innocent and provocative at the same time.
