1. LTE Kicks Off In Latin America

More than 450 professionals from all over Latam attended the 4th LTE Annual in Rio de Janeiro. With
this number it became one of the principal SP events in the region, beside Futurecom.
Cisco managed to gain visibility in the sector entering as a Badge and Lanyard Sponsor. Among the
sponsoring companies were: Tekelek, Oracle, amdocs, Mavenir, gemalto, WebRadar, JDSU, O3b and
some others.
Main topics that were discussed at the presentations and panels were:
Offload with WiFi and Femto
Spectrum allocation (different spectrum than in US limits device penetration)
Infrastructure sharing
VoLTE and Roaming
Business Models
Increase of Data Traffic vs limited Spectrum availability
Connecting Fixed, 2G, 3G and 4G Networks.
Anderson Andre presented as the keynote speaker - "Achieving Interoperability between LTE and
Legacy Networks with Evolved Packet Core" with the focus on:
1. Describing clear market demand and dynamics for mobile networks
2. Detailed mandatory requirements to Next Generation Mobile Packet Core (MPC) = Evolved
Packet Core (EPC), enriching several key advantages we have in ASR5k
3. Built awareness and relevance in mobile operators in the event to Cisco EPC
