This document provides demographic information and survey results from the Oregon Statewide Mentoring Program in spring 2009. It shows that most beginning teachers and mentors were female and white. The top ways mentors helped beginning teachers included providing resources, strategies for classroom management, emotional support, and assistance developing teaching strategies. Areas mentors felt less effective in included special needs, communication, and additional support. Comparisons to fall data show increases in mentor support and effectiveness from fall to spring. Administrators agreed the program increased their knowledge and most felt teachers had adequate materials and space.
