The Special Projects Manager will develop, implement and manage all aspects of an emerging media strategy (social media) plan to increase L&I’s visibility throughout the state; to help enhance the positive image of the department in the communities it serves, and to strengthen L&I’s corporate culture through aligning an emerging media plan with the internal and external communications efforts. Success will depend on your expertise in media relations. You’ll possess the skill to support direct channels of media relations, develop corporate communication plans, and support special projects for L&I’s Director. It requires the ability to make presentations to executive decision makers, advise the Director on key speeches and presentations and be a persuasive spokesperson. You’ll also need to develop and implement emerging media programs that could include the creation of podcasts, blogs, SEO strategies, social networking, social bookmarking and website submissions in addition to participating in online communities. 4. The world of communications is changing rapidly. Traditional methods of reaching target audiences are becoming less viable each day for key audience groups. We know, males ages 18-24 do not read newspapers or watch T.V. To reach this population with L&I messages, we must develop other communication channels. One of your first assignments is to conduct a communications audit and determine how the agency can best reach target audiences through emerging social media markets. You will be the chief writer for the agency Director and executives. This will include speeches, messages, and sensitive letters and other correspondence. Additionally, you’re a special project manager for communications issues including writing decision packages and budget narrative.
