2. # #AZer#staring#at#one#another#for#an#awful#long#amount#of#Ime,#Daisy#spoke#again,#“Why?#Why#
does#she#know#all#this#and#all#that?”#Lord#MaF#stood#up#and#paced#around#the#room,#unIl#finally#he#
answered,#“I#really#would#tell#you,#but#the#“Dragon#Ancient#History#Book”#is#gone,#along#with#all#our#
other#possessions.”#Daisy#sighed.#Gadzooks#was#in#all#this#Ime#thinking#to#himself#how#glad#he#was#not#
to#be#royalty,#a#debate#like#this#everyday#would#kill#him.#
# #Daisy#and#Lord#MaF#talked#back#and#forth#for#two#hours#straight.#Gadzooks#massaged#his#
temple,#which#was#ready#to#burst.#But#finally#the#conversaIon#came#to#a#close,#“The#conkle#isn’t#dead!”#
Lord#MaF#had#exclaimed.#Gadzooks#finally,#worked#up#by#stress,#stood#up.#The#two#royal#dragons#stared#
at#him.#Gadzooks#sat#back#down,#realizing#it#was#not#a#good#idea#to#speak#now.#Lord#MaF#then#brought#
Daisy#into#a#corner.#“I#hope#you#have#not#considered#this#dragon#of#yours#a#friend#or#more#Daisy,#
because#when#the#castle#is#re@built,#we#are#done#with#him!”#Lord#MaF#whispered.
# Daisy#was#astonished#at#her#father.#“He#saved#your#life,#and#mine!”#Daisy#whisper#shouted.#Lord#
MaF#peeked#around#to#ensure#that#Gadzooks#wasn’t#eavesdropping.#“I#don’t#want#you#being#friends#
with#one#of#such#a#low#class#my#dear.”#Lord#MaF#mumbled.#Daisy’s#nostrils#spit#smoke#at#her#father.#
“You#are#so#selfish!”#She#exclaimed,#“You#could#care#less#that#Gadzooks#is#low#class,#you#just#want#me#all#
to#yourself,#huh?”#She#yelled#loud#enough#for#Gadzooks#to#hear.
# Lord#MaF#put#a#large#hand#over#Daisy’s#mouth.#“Fine,#forget#I#said#anything,#but#you#will#thank#
me#when#you#find#out#what#he#really#is.”#Lord#MaF#murmured.#Daisy#broke#free#of#her#father’s#grasp#
and#ran#over#to#Gadzooks.#“Let’s#keep#talking#about#Lindina.”#She#exclaimed.#Lord#MaF#seemed#more#
interested#in#the#topic#now.#“Hold#on.”#The#lord#said,#“#I#think#I#remember#now.”#“Remember#what?”#
Daisy#asked.#“The#story.#Lindina.#I#must#have#a#minor#concussion,#but#I#have#it#now.”#The#lord#tapped#his#
own#head,#and#then#began#to#tell#the#most#fascinaIng#story#Gadzooks#had#ever#heard.

Part#seven
Lindina#and#Shalan:#Dragons#With#a#Human#Shape
# “Many years ago there was a rainbow colored dragon
named Lindina. She was a powerful and courageous dragon. She
is the reason we never had two conkles to this day, because she
killed the first conkle. She used the secret weapon, the golden
blade to destroy it. The weapon that Daisy called her weapon.
Lindina was the lord’s queen at the time. The conkle had
attacked a colony of dragons and reeked havoc on every one in
sight. Finally, the lord of that time arose from his throne and
announced that he would slay the evil conkle alone. Lindina, the
queen could not just standby, so she followed her husband to
the battlegrounds. The battle wasn’t too long, but it was
devastating. No one knew who would claim victory. Then, not
too far into the battle, the conkle grabbed the lord in its
powerful claws. It had a steel grip and the lord couldn’t escape.
Then the conkle squeezed the lord with so much power that the
lord lost his grip and dropped his weapon, the secret weapon. It
plummeted to the ground and then it lost its powerful, shiny
glow.
The queen knew how it would turn out, so she raced onto
the field, and grabbed the secret weapon and uttered a spell she
had learned from her grandmother in case she ever was in
trouble. The golden blade flashed, then it shot a light blue beam
at the conkle, which was so powerful that the conkle could no
longer stand. It dropped to the ground in defeat. But the queen
was too late to save the lord. He already had the life squeezed
out of him. He was dead on the floor of the battleground.
Lindina raced to help him, but he was already gone. Then
Lindina began to glow with a devastating light. And she
remembered something awful. By using the spell that she did,
she would become human for life! But the full transformation
would take a little more than a month’s time.

4. When she had just about fully formed a human body, she
had a baby. She called him Shalan. Shalan was a dragon/human.
Lindina named the baby before her full transformation. But
when she became a human, Shalan took the form of a human
too. In order to protect her child from harm, Lindina used a spell
to give Shalan a human mother, named Lola, who would then be
Lindina’s daughter. Lindina decided she would become Shalan’s
grandmother, in order to stay far enough from him that he was
safe, and close enough to look after him. She also had one more
thing to do, in order to keep Shalan from being detected with a
dragon name from centuries back, she changed his name from
Shalan to Alan. So both lived as humans. But they say, very early
every morning, when no one is looking, the boy takes on his
dragon form, for nothing stopped him from being a boy/dragon.
He loves to spread his wings and fly about. Lindina also gave
him her last name, Spell.”
“And#that’s#how#the#story#goes.”#said#Lord#MaF.#Gadzooks##was#speechless.#Totally#speechless.#
Then,#Gadzooks#thought#about#the#tale.#He#thought#of#all#of#it,#leading#up#to#one,#dramaIc#conclusion.#
He#remembered#that#he#was#friends#with#a#human,#and#humans#don’t#connect#with#dragons#or#vis@versa.#
But#if#Gadzooks#was#friends#with#a#human,#could#that#mean#that#he#knew....#the#same#Alan#from#the#
story.#Gadzooks’s#eyes#driZed#out#of#the#hole,#staring#into#a#window,#where#a#young#boy#slept.#But#that#
couldn’t#be.#It#wouldn’t#make#sense.#No#way,#no#how.#But#then#again,#Alan#could#in#fact#be#a#true#
dragon@boy...

Part#eight
Tumbling#in#Thought
# The#night#had#come#sooner#than#expected,#and#Daisy#and#Lord#MaF#had#leZ#Gadzooks’s#home#
to#go#live#in#their#new#castle.#Gadzooks#tried#hard#to#fall#asleep,#but#could#not.#The#dragon@boy#thing#had#
brought#him#to#use#every#available#thought#in#his#head#to#make#sense.#Gadzooks#had#refrained#from#
telling#Daisy#or#Lord#MaF#about#his#thoughts.#He#did#not#want#to#put#Alan#in#danger,#whether#he#was#a#
mysIcal#dragon#being#or#not.
# Gadzooks#begged#himself#to#forget#what#he#heard#and#what#he#had#though,#but#it#was#
impossible.#Gadzooks#tossed#and#turned#in#his#bed.#He#stood#up,#annoyed#by#his#thoughts.#He#wondered#
what#Alan#might#have#been#doing#every#morning#for#years#back#that#Gadzooks#may#have#missed.#It#was#
all#quite#mysterious.
# The#night#pressed#forward,#leaving#Gadzooks#as#much#Ime#as#he#did#or#did#not#want#to#think.#It#
was#almost#painful.#Gadzooks#looked#up#to#the#black#sky.#Twinkling#stars#doFed#themselves#across#it.#It#
should’ve#soothed#Gadzooks,#but#only#made#his#head#thump#harder#than#before.#He#spread#his#wings,#
ready#to#take#flight,#but#stopped#himself,#thinking#could#he#bring#himself#to#do#it?#He#wanted#to#go#and#
ask#Alan#himself.
# Gadzooks#rubbed#his#eyes#and#blinked.#“What#am#I#thinking?”#He#yelled#aloud#to#only#himself.#
He#rubbed#his#eyes#again.#He#made#a#fist#and#rocked#it#against#his#skull.#He#shot#smoke#out#his#snout.#He#
kept#pounding.#The#world#began#to#spin#before#him,#it#seemed#to#Ilt.#Gadzooks#rocked#and#rolled,#his#
tumbling#mind#almost#exploded.#Faster#and#faster#his#mind#raced.#He#screamed#and#shouted.#Tossing#
and#turning.#Then,#he#stopped.#He#looked#up#into#the#sky#and#saw#a#bright#golden#light.#A#voice#was#
yelling,#“Gadzooks,#Gadzooks,#Gadzooks,#Gadzooks!”#Gadzooks#stared#at#the#sound,#then#he#opened#his#
eyes.#He#stared#into#the#deep,#violet#of#eyes#of#Daisy.
# He#jumped#up.#Daisy#was#standing#before#him.#Then#he#noIced#the#sweat#surrounding#him#was#
now#sIcky#and#smelly.#He#blushed.#Daisy#sat#in#a#chair,#telling#him#of#how#when#she#came#he#was#
dreaming,#and#shouIng#to#himself.#Gadzooks#blushed#again.#“So,”#Daisy#wondered#out#loud,#“What#
were#you#dreaming#about#that#made#you#scream#so#loud?”#Gadzooks#blushed#once#more.#He#didn’t#
want#to#lie,#but#had#no#choice.
# “I#was#dreaming#about,#um,#about,#errr,#ELVES!”#Gadzooks#exclaimed.#“Elves?”#Daisy#repeated.#
“I...umm....errrrr.....#ohhhh.....elves!”#Gadzooks#spuFered.#Obviously#Daisy#didn’t#believe#him#for#one#
second,#but#seeing#as#he#did#not#want#to#say,#she#asked#no#more#quesIons#about#the#maFer.
# Silence#engulfed#the#two#dragons#like#deep#fog.#Gadzooks#felt#weird.#Daisy#looked#all#around#
herself.#Then,#Lord#MaF#tumbled#into#the#deep#hole.#He#literally#tumbled#in.#“Daddy!”#Daisy#screamed.#
Gadzooks#rushed#from#his#chair#to#help#the#lord#up.#Blood#was#running#down#the#lord’s#cheek.#Daisy#
yelped.#Gadzooks#dabbed#at#the#blood#with#a#towel.#The#lord#was#out#of#breath.#Daisy#steadied#her#
father.#“What#happened?”#She#asked#him.#The#lord#looked#ready#to#puke.#He#leaned#forward#too,#but#
didn’t#release#anything,#luckily.#“It’s#back!”#He#finally#spiFed#out.#Gadzooks#looked#at#him#with#suspicion.#
“What#is#back?”#Daisy#asked.#“IT!”#The#lord#yelled#back.#Daisy#sat#down,#then#jumped#up#again.#“It’s#the#
conkle,#right?”#She#exclaimed.#The#lord#nodded,#it#was#true.#Gadzooks#gulped.#“It#is#fighIng.”#Lord#MaF#
spuFered.#Gadzooks#looked#away.#“It#has#been#tamed.”#Lord#MaF#shouted.#Both#dragons#stared#at#him.#
“An#evil#dragon#is#leading#it,#ordering#it#to#aFack#unIl#it#finds#a#special#dragon.”#Lord#MaF#shouted.#
“Who#are#they#looking#for?”#Gadzooks#asked#calmly.#Lord#MaF#steadied#himself,#then#pointed#a#finger.#
“You.”#He#mumbled#poinIng#at#Gadzooks,#who#gulped#loudly.#Daisy#yelped#once#more.#Gadzooks’s#mind#
