2. Use Social Proof
• Users are skeptical and risk averse
• They look to others when foming
opinions or your app’s value
• Use positive reviews, customer
comments, total downloads and
ranks achieved to build social proof
for your app
3. Leverage Story Telling
• Remember that emotions sell
better than statistics and specs
• Games: try to create an emotional
connection with the characters
• Apps: start with a vivid word picture
of the problem that you are trying
to solve
• Try to take your customers on a
journey, don’t push features out of
context
4. Rely on Authority
• Reach out early to reviewers so you
have great quotes on day 1
• Mention any awards that your app
has earned
• Keep your eyes open for public
celebrity mentions of your game or
app
5. Borrow Ideas
• Look to the most popular apps for
inspiration – don’t copy!
• What keywords are they using?
• How do they format their
descriptions?
• Don’t reinvent the wheel
6. Slice Your Text Into Sections
• Don’t make your readers have to
scan through too much text
• Rule of thumb - no more than about
50 words per section
• Best practice for good use of
sections is Plants vs. Zombies
7. Push Social Networks
• Descriptions get copied and pasted
all over the place
• Don’t forget to include links to your
Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
pages
• Not only will you get free backlinks,
but, it will show social proof
8. Create Emotions
• Use vivid, descriptive, colorful
words
• Focus on phrases that relate to the
overall theme and image of your
game
• Try to avoid clichés and bland
descriptions - your game is not
“fun”
• Don’t forget to write for your
brand, not just your app
9. Get Help if You Need it
• If you don’t feel comfortable writing
yourself – hire someone on Elance
• It could be the best few hundred
dollars that you ever spent!
