2. What is a Short Film
A short film is any film that is long enough
not to be a feature film. It is a film which
has a running time of less than 40 minutes,
most of the ones I have seen are around 4
– 10 minutes long. A short consists of a
beginning, middle and end just like a
feature film would have.
3. My favourite Short Film
One of my favourite shorts is Tyler which is
directed by Sam Benenati’s Tyler, this is a 4 minute
short which is about two brothers where the
younger one fall for his older brothers girlfriend.
The thing that I liked about it for it to be my
favourite short was that the beginning of it got me
engaged and involved in watching it straight
away as it started of with some really good lyrics
which made me want to rap with him.

4. History of Short film
In the beginning, all films were short but as time increased
coming up to the 20th century that’s when films began
longer.
One of the very first short films that were presented was
Thomas Edisons Kinetoscope, in which was presented to the
public in 1894.
The best known film was Lumiere brothers arrival of a train
at La ciotat which was in 1895
In the early 1990s improvements in recording and editing
technology allowed film makers to produce longer multi
short films
The major outlets for entertainment at the time were music
halls and fairgrounds, where programmes were made up of
a variety of acts lasting up to 20 minutes
5. Distribution of short films
A distributor is an individual or organisation who will represent
your film at festivals and markets which can be distributed
nationally, worldwide and internationally.
The major short film distributors in UK are dazzle future shorts,
Ireland TV and shorts international
One way of distributing a short film is by self distributing it which is
when you yourself decide to distribute your short film yourself
Online distributing is another way in which you can distribute your
film but now there are some companies who claim to make profits
from distributing firms online in a similar way to traditional
distributors
An e.g. of this is distrify which changes the way we share,
discover, buy and sell movies, disrtify turns the web into a movie
sales platform
Another e.g. is dynamo which can reach a global audience,
publish programs on any sites and get paid for every purchase
