- Advisors need referrals. So when a new app like referral shows up, it’s worth pating attention to.
- My Referral Key experience started after I received an email from Lewis Weinstein. I was curious and checked it out. I created an account and had this message from Lewis waiting for me. It was all done very, and the one minute video was impressive, claiming that Referral Key is the world largest referral network and that in uner a miniute I would learn how to generate a referral today.The example in the video begins when the story of a user whose friend, Susan, is looking for an accountant to prepare her taxes.The user says that he knows someone who is not only a good accountant but was even willing to reward him with $45 for every referral I sent him resulting in business.In the example in the video, the user sends the accountant Susan’s contact information because sending her contact information rather than waiting for Susan to get in touch with the accountant is 80% more likley to result in a sale. I was skeptical about where the 80% came from and about the privacy implications of handing out someone’s contact information without asking first, I was most skeptical about the payment. Obviously, such a payment made by an RIA without proper dislcosure would be against the law.But the referral app was so slick that I wanted to learn more about it.
- So I clicked on the link to create my own profile. Creating my profile was a snap.

- To add your four referrals, you can upload your contacts from social media sites liked Linkedin and facebook. I almost pressed on this, in fact. But then I felt a little unsure about uploading my 1200linkedin contacts to this site that I don’t really know. Si I opted for th much les colorful and kless sexy button below which allows you to Manually add contacts.I added four colleagues who I thought might be able to give me referrals.
- Exporting my Linked In, Outlook or social networking contacts would have been a cinch.
- And that was it, I was done. But Referral Key was not done with me yet. It next told me how I could get a badge featuring me on the site as a Social Networker.
- It’s been just a few days but not of four people I asked for referrals have sent me any referrals. And when I researched Referral Key, I found some other posts expressing sketicism about its effectiveness and objectting to its spammy style for asking for referrals.So I am asking you.
