This document proposes an online psycho-education platform (PEP) to provide educational content and support to mental health patients who are on waiting lists. The key points are:
1) Currently almost 100,000 mental health patients in the Netherlands are on waiting lists, with average wait times of 26 weeks, leaving patients feeling desperate and vulnerable.
2) PEP would provide an online set of educational modules selected by medical professionals to start patients' treatment immediately while waiting, extending regular care anywhere or anytime.
3) PEP could lower costs by sharing modules across providers and organizations, while still requiring initial input from mental health professionals and support from caregivers.
