I have been painting, designing and creating for most of my life. I was born and raised in the Midwest, Missouri. I have worked in interior design, hospitality hotel design industry and furniture design. My career in design took me to Chicago where I worked as a head designer for Hotels in the in the major cities and Caribbean. Working in the Caribbean lead me to open my own company (called Zoda's Art) and work and live in Ocho Rios, Jamaica for 22 years, in which I did thematic design for hotels across the Caribbean. During this time is when I really started to make a name for myself as an artist. I was also awarded the Bob Marley Museum in 9Mile, Jamaica. I enjoy helping others and I have created and started art programs for the schools in Jamaica and have taught art school for underprivileged children in Jamaica.
But, painting has always been my passion in life. I love to work with oils but I can work with any kind of medium. I am always creating or painting something. After, leaving Jamaica 2 years ago, I decided to go back to college. I am now a full time student studying for a Bachelors of Fine Art and I paint for a living.
My work changes as I change. My latest passion has been infused in the history of painting and learning the techniques of the old masters, how they mixed their paints, how and why they layered their paintings, using natural pigments for paint. I had never had the opportunity to go back to school and I feel very lucky to have the chance now in life. I have shown my work in two museums in Jamaica, Harmony Hall in St. Mary’s and HQ in Kingston. I have had two opening in Tucson since I have been here.
I am grateful for this chance and will do my best to show you what I can create.
