Differentiation can be defined as a way of teaching in which teachers proactively modify curriculum, teaching methods, resources, learning activities, and student products to address the needs of individual students and/or small groups of students to maximize the learning opportunity for each student in the classroom.   7. 7. What are the types of Learning Styles? • Visual • Auditory • Kinesthetic/Tactile

Auditory Learners learn through listening… • Verbal lectures, discussions, talking things through • To tone of voice, pitch, speed and other nuances. • So written information may have little meaning until it is heard. These learners often benefit from reading text aloud and using a tape recorder.

Visual Learners learn through seeing… • Need to see the teacher's body language and facial expression. • Tend to prefer sitting at the front of the classroom • May think in pictures and learn best from visual displays   • Prefer to take detailed notes during lecture or classroom discussion to absorb the information.

Kinesthetic/Tactile Learners learn through moving, doing, and touching… •Tactile/Kinesthetic persons learn best through a hands-on approach, actively exploring the physical world around them. •They may find it hard to sit still for long periods and may become distracted by their need for activity and exploration.
