Assessment 3 (1)
1. Assessment 3
Dear Owen
I read your article a few days ago, the one about “the Qatar world cup” being moved to the
winter, I’ve got to say some of your points for it being postponed to the winter were very
engaging. On the other hand, there were some negative points. I one hundred percent
agree with you, talking about how if the tournament was to be moved to November, the
problems which this would cause. I thought your points were engaging, well thought and
very well discussed. But, nevertheless I don’t agree about some of the disadvantages that
you have discussed in your article...
One of the main points which you discussed, which I don’t agree is the point about the
leagues being played at different stages of the year. In my view as a football fan I don’t think
this will affect football, would it affect you? That’s the question which needs to be
answered!
The world cup is the most critical time for the football sport and I think many people will
approve of this. Nevertheless, I get where you’re coming from with your point, but I don’t
think it was a vital one and personally I would have talked about how if the world cup was to
be moved to November it would cause problems for the supporters of the sport.
The key reason why this would affect the supporters is because in November people are
working and there will be more people travelling the world so it would cost more money for
supporters to get to Qatar. Maybe if you write another article about this topic then maybe
you could add the point in how it affects the fans of the sport.
I liked the point which you discussed in how it will affect other sports and sports occasions,
for example I agreed when you discussed about that it will clash “with the winter 2022
Olympics” I think a lot of people won’t like the fact that the Qatar world cup and the 2022
winter Olympics will clash, these are two of the most highly anticipated tournaments in the
sporting year, so making them clash isn’t going to go down well so I’m happy you’ve
discussed it in the article.
Your points about the world cup staying to its original date, I personally thought were very
well discussed and also expanded. The main point I personally thought which you did the
best discussing was the point about the player’s contracts; I thought how you discussed the
point in how at the end of every season a player’s contract can be renewed or the player
can choose to sign a new contract for a different club, I liked how you then went on to
expand your point by discussing how this effects the players if the world cup was to be
moved in November or possibly later.

2. There was a point which wasn’t discussed which I was quite startled about. The point was
about if the world cup is played at the normal time which it’s supposed to. Qatar as a nation
would get much more money than if the world cup is later played in the later months of the
year, I think that this point should be included in your next article if it’s about this topic.
With this point I can further debate about if the world is played in November then it would
clash with the winter 2022 Olympics, this potentially means that not all the people that
originally was going to go to Qatar would go, this could further more be discussed by saying
that this isn’t fair for the fans because some might have to choose between the world cup
and the winter Olympics. Maybe if you do another article, you could add this point because i
think it would be a piece of vital information for the readers of your article.
Overall I thought that your article was very intriguing, your points about how moving the
world cup to November would be good and also bad, I liked the way you discussed your
points, for and against. I also enjoyed reading when you expanded your points to allow your
audience to know both sides of the points which are being discussed. However, there were
some points which I thought were discussed openly and maybe it would be better if you’re
put in mind opinions of the actual fans of the sport. In my opinion there are little things
which would make this article much better, if you read this then hopefully you look at my
criticism and take it into consideration when writing your next article.
Yours sincerely
