Ian Won found a praying mantis on the pavement near "The Cage" in August 2014 that was only 2 centimeters long. Over the next few months, the mantis went through three moltings as it grew, changing from a nymph to an adult during metamorphosis. By October, it had grown wings and Ian began letting it out of its cage. It was observed eating moths and even small lizards. In November, the mantis laid two egg cases, from which up to 400 new mantises could hatch. Ian provides some care tips like maintaining a clean cage and feeding the mantis every 1-4 days.

10. Things to note
Size of the cage should be around 3 times its length
Cage should be cleaned frequently to clear dead pieces of its prey
Praying mantis should be fed every 1-4 days
Its life span is about 8 months
My sister found a praying mantis at The Cage, located in the east near sports hub
We caught it on the pavement and transfer it to an empty water bottle.
The Praying Mantis likes to wait for its prey to move pass her while she lays ambush to catch her prey
We feed her with live grasshoppers and insects as well as lizards and geckos every two days!
She has an enormous appetite
Praying mantis belongs to the family of arthropods
Our female praying mantis did not mate with a male praying mantis, therefore the egg case does not hatch into praying mantises.
