Basic techniques are the most crucial part for those who wants to be a pro
or elite player. The success keys are to be discipline, focus in training, and
additionally, get mentored from a badminton coach.
A good badminton player has to be able to hit the birdie from above or
bottom. There are several necessary hitting techniques to learn: service,
loop, drop shot, smash, netting, underhand, and drive. In addition to
master those techniques, a player needs to have good hand grip and
footwork.
3. 1. Hand Grip
One of the secret factors to success in
playing badminton is the hand grip. A
good quality hit can be determined by this
key factor.
Hold the racquet handle with phalanges (finger segments). A player grip
needs to be flexible and relax, yet it still feels powerful when he or she hits
the birdie.
The rule of thumbs is to avoid gripping with palm (like holding a cleaver).
Even palm grip is very firm but that will only result in weak hit, difficult to
control and do smash.
4. Basically there are two mainstream type of hand grip: forehand and
backhand – which determined all variety of hits in badminton.
Forehand
This is the first type of hand grip needs
to be learned for all beginner players.
Hold the racquet handle like you are doing “hand
shaking.”
Backhand
Reverse your gripping from forehand.
5. Forehand and backhand grips are always being used responsively in
every situations. These techniques will be automatically applicable for
more advanced players because they are already adapted to this.
The key is to train the wrist in order to enhance the hit quality. Do not over
use power to hit but use it wisely and efficiently.
