Home Visit with Society of St. Vincent de Paul Mac Johnson, St. Robert Bellarmine Chapel
Instructor, Christian Social Justice (LPC 128)
1.) In your parish, contact a leader for the Parish Conference of the
Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Ask to participate, with 1 or 2 other
experienced Vincentians, in an actual Home Visit.
Ask the appropriate leader to call you soon, so you might
accompany them for a Home Visit, which they schedule. See 2p
handout: “St. Vincent de Paul Society,” describing this parish social
ministry.
2.) Go on this Home Visit encounter.
Reflection Exercise (Write 1 - 2 pages, hand in, after your Home Visit):
3.) a.) Journey Outward: Write down a description of your experience to
share with our class. What is happening to this family? Why?
b.) Journey Inward: Notice your feelings about this “border-crossing”
experience visiting the home of a poor family. Describe these
feelings about this invitation, and then about the actual encounter.
Read: 4p article: “I’d Love to Lord, But….” (in journal “Review for Religious”).
