WDF, Inc., brings to bear nearly 90 years of construction experience when
supporting New York clients in their efforts to complete complex HVAC and other
construction initiatives. In fact, WDF, Inc.’s capabilities include special projects
like the one it completed for the Bronx Zoo’s Madagascar! exhibit, a project that
required it to renovate habitats intended for sea lions.
The Bronx Zoo ranks among America’s largest conservation parks in that it
stands on hundreds of acres that are host to thousands of creatures. The zoo
has a history going back to the turn of the 19th century. The original structures of
the zoo, including the Zoo Center and the Rainey Gate, are protected through
their official status as historical landmarks.
Over the decades, the Bronx Zoo has expanded and modernized. In the mid-
20th century, the organization developed away from cages toward open habitats
that enhance animal quality of life.
Moreover, the zoo added animals from various regions of the world. In 2008, for
example, it opened its Madagascar! exhibit. The attraction features unique
animals, including breathtaking prosimian specimens like the red ruffed lemur
and Coquerel’s sifaka.
