3. History of company & company vision
The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) was established
based on Law No.14/11/2021 with the mandate of leading all
rural development efforts to ensure that Somaliland rural
communities enjoy a quality of life by enhancing their
productive livelihood assets and restore the trust of rural life
in mid of recurrent droughts and other climate change
induced shocks.
4. The Core Functions of the ministry are included the
following:
A) Preparation and implementation of the national policy
on Rural Development of the Republic of Somaliland.
B) Creating plans to improve and maintain livelihood of the
rural community.
C) Coordinating rural development projects with all
governmental and non-governmental organizations to
prevent overlapping performance in one place.
D)Assessing and presenting scientific literature to improve
the lives of rural communities, identifying challenges and
needs and suggesting possible solutions to enhance
rural commutes.
5. E) Helping the community to protect themselves climate
change by raising awareness and creating public forums,
road –consultation on Rural Development.
F) Working to increase food income and self-sufficiency rural
community by supporting the development of social services
and construction of rural economic services.
G) Involving and facilitating access to basic social services to
the rural community.
H) improving the living conditions of the rural community in
order to eradicate poverty and boost the economy.
I) Support and engage in the acquisition of trainings
designed to build the capacity and skills of rural
communities.
6. J) Implementing participant processes and creating
ownership of rural community development project and
programs.
K) Coordinate and report on the development programs
and projects in the rural areas.
L) Promoting mutual security, co-ownership, and
corporation rural communities to prevent conflict
overgrazing land, water, etc
