APPROACH The pistol is an excellent weapon for shooting at close quarters. Its short barrel enables the
soldier to engage targets quickly. It is important that the soldier knows how to maintain the
pistol so that it does not let him down in battle and how to handle it correctly without
endangering the lives of his comrades.
AIM Introduce to you the pistol, safety precautions, parts, stripping, assembling and cleaning.

1. Automatic, 9 mm, L9A1 Pistol – Weight
approx. 1 Kg with full magazine. The
weapon fires one round each time
trigger is operated. The recoil is used to
reload the pistol.
2. The pistol has two magazines – is carried
in a pistol holster. Magazine capacity of
13 rounds.
3. Fixed blade foresight of a notch
backsight adjustable for zeroing.
4. On the left side is the slide locking lever
and the safety catch. The two visible
half moon shaped recesses are used to
apply the safety catch when the hammer
is cocked.

For Inspection – Draw Pistol
1. Draw pistol from holster – finger – raw
pistol position.
2. Remove magazine if fitted – pressing on
magazine catch with right hand thumb.
3. Cock pistol with left hand and engage
slide locking lever into forward recess
with right hand thumb.
Return Pistol
1. Full slide fully to the rear and let it fly
forward under control.
2. Place an empty magazine in the pistol
and press trigger - muzzle pointing safe
direction.
3. Remove magazine - replace pistol in
holster.
