2. OBJECTIVE
1. Are women really the greener gender out of their
choice or is it the societal norms that have molded
their conduct & hence the society’s perspectives?
2. Will women still be the greener gender when they
attain the same level of freedom and capability as
men?
3. Is there a hidden harmful/reverse impact of
Government’s policies & laws that are directed at
women with the intention of empowering them?
4. Are these inequalities and vulnerabilities of women
natural?
3. Almost all the articles and reports
are quite clear about the Polluter!
To them it’s MEN!
5. SURVEY
Small Qualitative survey
conducted among 53 individuals;
26females, 27males
Mixed group: various age
groups, various professions
Conducted to observe the trend in transportation among men &
women; their travel choices; their transport choices
Survey done face to face.
9. Smaller footprint! Then why
Vulnerable?
Economically
dependent on men,
especially in
developing countries
Increase in sexual
and gender violence
Women
underrepresented at
decision making
levels
10. Are our Policies good enough?
Climate Policies hardly
mention gender
perspectives
Climate Policies showing
women in the light of
poor and victims; and
with no contribution to
society
Gender Policies
focusing on ‘singular
cause’
Percentage of
women
representative
very less
11. Are women really the ‘Greener Gender’ out of their choice
or is it the societal norms that have molded their conduct
& hence the society’s perspective ?
Given, the opportunity and resources, women are also capable of
exploiting the resources & environment (Eg: Young women in Britain)
Will women still be the ‘Greener Gender’ when they attain
the same level of freedom and capability as men?
12. Female Is, what you see in majority, really
the truth?
Private vehicle Myself
40.9% have
license
Occasional
13. If women/girls are also allowed to
swim carelessly, without any safety
concerns in the nearby pond or river
just like men/boys, would they be
vulnerable in the face of disasters like
flood?
Isn’t there a kind of pressure
from our society as to how a
woman & a man should behave
in their day-to-day life?
14. Is there a hidden harmful/reverse impact of Government’s
Policies and laws that are directed at women with the
intention of empowering them?
1. Are the policies , intended and also
implemented well?
2. Is it necessary that every time
policies have to be made with the
only intention of palliating
vulnerability and not to try to
bring them to the front at the Govt.
level?
3. Their role in climate change
policies’ is only as poor and
vulnerable and needy and
dependent?
15. Differences are natural, inequalities
& vulnerabilities are not!
Men & Women are different
by NATURE, but our believes
that Women are poor &
dependent and that Men are
the real polluters are NOT
NATURAL.
We are much
more capable of
adapting to
extreme
environment
and are richer in
knowledge wrt
to nature due to
our lifestyle.
We are already
at the upper
level, we need
all the
knowledge
from everybody
to fight Climate
change. Let’s go
together.
16. Vulnerability of women & Gender
inequality are not natural but
societal
Men & Women are different in
terms of physicality, anatomy
etc. but women can equally be
polluters, if given a chance.
When thinking about gender
equality, this aspect should be
kept in mind. Otherwise, the
scenario after gender equality
would then be that, Women
have become equally polluting
as men.
This kind of scenario will not
lead us to anywhere in this
battle with Climate Change.
17. Climate Change is real.
Climate Action needs all of us together, with no
one sex given special priority.
We need to have a vision that views both
sexes as equal and hence the opportunities
to both should also be equally distributed.
18. “The first step towards reducing our
Ecological impact is to recognize that the
‘Environmental Crisis’ is less an
Environmental & Technical problem than it is
a Behavioral & Social one. It can therefore be
resolved only with the help of behavioral and
social solutions.” – Wackernagel & Rees
