3. Revelation 2:1-3
To the angel of the church of Ephesus write,
these things says He who holds the seven stars in
His right hand and who walks in the midst of the
seven golden lamp stands. I know your works,
your labor, your patience, and that you cannot
bear those who are evil, and you have tested
those who say they are apostles and are not,
and have found them liars: and you have
persevered and have patience, and have
labored for My name’s sake and have not
become weary.

6. Revelation 2:4-5
Nevertheless I have this against you,
that you have left your first love.
Remember therefore from where you
have fallen; repent and do the first
works, or else I will come to you
quickly and remove your lampstand
from its place – unless you repent.

8. God is light
1 John 1:5-7New International Version (NIV)
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare
to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If
we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the
darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
Psalm 67:1New International Version (NIV)
1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make
his face shine on us.
WHAT DOES THE LIGHT SYMBOLIZES?
9. God is light
Then spake Jesus again unto them,
saying, I am the light of the world: he that
followeth me shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life.
(John 8:12)
WHAT DOES THE LIGHT SYMBOLIZES?
10. The Word of God (Bible)
Psalm 119:105 105 Your word is a lamp for my
feet, a light on my path.
God's Word is a lamp, a light that illuminates the
darkness.
God's Word illuminates the path of our lives. If
we keep God's Word shining along the way, then
we will be far less likely to trip.
WHAT DOES THE LIGHT SYMBOLIZES?
11. The Truth (John 17:7)
1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light, as he is in
the light, we have fellowship with one another, and
the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[a]
sin.
God's Word is truth (John 17:17). We have to
walk in the light "as He is in the light." He lives in
us, and we in Him. We are in union with Him.
Gospel (preaching of the goodnews)
WHAT DOES THE LIGHT SYMBOLIZES?
12. What does the Darkness symbolizes?
DARKNESS represents
• unbelief,
• sin, and
• evil
DARKNESS denotes
• death,
• ignorance, and
• those things which are sinful and bad
• or which represents the world and death
13. REFLECTING CHRIST, PAGE 197
Every True Christian to be a Light Bearer, July 2
“God desires us to shine as lights in the
world. We are to give the light of truth to
others, ever asking, ever receiving, ever
imparting, working in all simplicity
through the sanctification of the Spirit.”
14. REFLECTING CHRIST, PAGE 197
Every True Christian to be a Light Bearer, July 2
“Constantly our light is to increase in
brightness because we are constantly
receiving light from the Source of all light.
Beholding Christ, we are to become
changed into His image, reflecting His
light to the world.”
15. 2 SDA Bible Commentary p.
1032
“If left unattended the seven
lamps will be removed.”
16. Matthew 5:14-16
v14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is
set on an hill cannot be hid.
v15Neither do men light a candle, and put it
under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it
giveth light unto all that are in the house.
v16Let your light so shine before men, that
they may see your good works, and glorify
your Father which is in heaven.
17. Darkness has covered the earth, and
gross darkness the people; and Christ
says to His followers:
Each soul united to Christ becomes a light in
God’s house.
Each is to receive and impart, letting his light
shine forth in clear, bright rays.
We are held responsible by God if we do not
let light shine to those who are in darkness.
18. Mateo 5:14-16
v14Dacayo ti silaw ti lobong: ti maysa nga ili a
naisaad iti rabaw ti maysa a turod, saan a mabalin
nga ilemmeng.
v15Ket saan met a gangatan dagiti tao ti maysa a
silaw ket sa icabil iti siroc ti maysa a salop, no di ket
iti pagsilawan, ket lawaganna dagiti isu-amin nga
adda iti balay.
v16Casta coma ti panaglawag ti silawyo iti
sangoanan dagiti tao; tapno makitada dagiti
naimbag nga aramidyo, ket dayawenda coma ni
Amayo nga adda sadi langit.
19. Jesus warned of four ways by
which our lampstands may be
removed and our lights be put
out:
20. 1. A basket may drown the
flame
(Matt. 5:14, 15)
“You are the light of the world. A city that is
set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they
light a lamp and put it under a basket, but
on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who
are in the house.”
Basket denotes business success which
could detract from our relationship with God
21. 2. A bed might cover up
the light
(Mark 4:21)
“Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket
or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a
lampstand?”
A bed denotes laziness or sexual immorality
22. 3. A vessel might smother the
light
(Luke 8:16)
“No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a
vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a
lampstand that those who enter may see the
light.”
Vessel denotes that little extras, though good in
themselves, but when pursued to the excess
could become the grave of our religion
23. 4. A secret place might conceal
the light
(Luke 11:33)
“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a
secret place or under a basket, but on a
lampstand, that those who come in may
see the light.”
Secret Place denotes fear of witnessing or
being thought of as being different
24. Aids to Keep our Light
Shining

throughout the day.
