How can mini-projects help the
students to learn English?
• Projects provide a real-life context for learning;
they help to put English into practice and give
students a reason for learning it a reason
outside the class (foreign countries, e-
Twinning...)
• Projects give students a reason to look at each
other’s work
• When doing projects, students feel more the
centre of their learning and get to be teachers
(role-reversal)

• Projects contribute to the classroom
atmosphere and allow teachers and students
to collaborate and get to know a different
side of each other
• Students are LESS self-conscious of their
mistakes because they’re more focused on
the content
• Doing project conveys the message that
English is not a subject in itself, but an
actual tool

• Projects are adaptable to different levels and
different learning styles; they cater for
diversity
• They’re cross-curricular, so you’re working
on several topics at the same time and
developing competences
• Projects increase motivation, give students a
real reason to do things beyond the
academic motive;
• They’re motivating both for teachers and for
students because they’re fun and different
from the routine

What do you have to do?
1. Finish up the pending elements in
your project.
2. Plan the presentation you’re going to
do with your group.
3. Every group has about 10 minutes to
present their project + question time.
Everyone in the group has to speak;
try to distribute each person’s
contributions evenly.

4. Present your project as if you were
doing it with your students, describing it
in depth, going over the steps and
showing the materials you have
created.
5. At the end of your presentation,
everyone should be able to know
exactly what each project is about and
how to carry it out with their students.
