3. • At the beginning of that clip Martha jones (the girl in black
combat gear) is represented as weaker and powerless by the
fact that the camera looks down onto her. The master (man in
suit) is represented to be strong, powerful and clever by the
fact that the camera is looking up at him. This shows that in
this part of the clip he has all the power. The master is also
shown as more powerful than Martha because he commands
her to kneel. There is also a woman in the background she is
only really there to “look good” and is represented more like
the property of the master. There is also the doctor (the old
man in the cage). He is shown as having lost all of his power
and presented as a weak frail thing. This is shown by the fact
that he is in a cage and the camera is looking down on him. He
is also shown as weak by the fact he is looking depressed and
sorry for himself.
4. • Further into the clip Martha is shown to be getting stronger
and more able to fight for herself. This is shown well by the
cut scene of her battling through cold and dangerous weather.
The master is also show as slightly weaker as he acts confused
at what Martha is saying. Martha also shortly after stands up
showing again that she is gaining more power. Eventually
Martha and the doctors plan is revealed and the master has
realised he has lost. Once the doctor is freed the camera
angles switch and Martha and the doctor are looked up at and
the master is now looked down on. However Martha is not
shown as the complete hero as she has to then get comfort
from some people . She is not shown as the person who saved
the day, she is only shown as the person who helped someone
else save the day.
