The coolest hairstyles are “Wings hairstyle” for boys and semi-long and straight hair for girls Tattoos become popular in the middle of the decade By 2005, large sunglasses become popular by celebrities like Nicole Richie
Music Billboard chart named Beyoncé as the female artist of the decade It also named Eminem as the best-selling artist of the decade, with 32 million copies and Britney as the best-selling artist with over 85 million albums sold In June 2009 The King of  Pop, Michael Jackson died   In 2008 the “Lady Gaga era” started
Political Events In 2009 Obama became the first black President of the United States of America Angela Merkel becomes the first female Chancellor of Germany in 2005 In late 2007 the Global Financial Crisis starts in the USA, and later it affects most of the industrialized world The Euro was put in circulation
Tragicevents On December 2004, a 9.3 magnitude earthquake generated enormous tsunami waves that killed 230,000 people in Indonesia The War in Afghanistan and the Iraq war started On September 11th Al-Qaeda crashed two planes into The Twin Towers in New York City (2,992 people died)
Technology To use social networks and search engines, such as Google, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter or YouTube becomesa daily activity. Apple revolutionizes this period. It starts to produce new gadgets with a lot of success, like Ipods or Iphones DVDs and Blu-ray discs replace VCR
