TrekDesk Treadmill Desk Review

The TrekDesk treadmill desk is exactly what it sounds like – a desk you can attach to your
treadmill so that you can keep fit while you work at your office desk, at home or in the office.
The TrekDesk aims to provide a solution for people who can’t seem to find dedicated time for
exercising. Instead of having to set aside specific time for exercise, you can keep fit by walking
while you work.

Featuring a large 72 x 34 inch desk, the TrekDesk treadmill desk certainly looks the part.
However, is this a practical solution to a problem, or is the TrekDesk simply a gimmick?

TrekDesk Treadmill Desk: The Pros

Assembly: First and foremost, the TrekDesk Treadmill Desk is not difficult to assemble. There
are quite a few screws that need to be securely tightened, so a power drill will save you some
time if available. The screws vary in size and all come in the one bag, which is slightly annoying,
but it does not take long to separate them.

The instructions are very straightforward, and although they do not have diagrams for illustrative
purposes, they aren’t really necessary such is the simplicity of the assembly. The TrekDesk
can be comfortably put together by one person in under an hour provided you have a power
drill. Helpfully, TrekDesk also provide video instructions on their website for anyone who is

                                                                                             1/3
struggling with the assembly, but chances are you will not require any assistance.

Size: The TrekDesk treadmill desk is a large desk that provides not only front coverage, but side
coverage. The TrekDesk is 72 inches wide, while it is 18 inches long at the front and 34 inches
long at the sides. This provides ample room for not only a laptop, phone and notes, but for a
couple of desktop monitors, keyboard, mouse and more.

While most people will not want to overcrowd the TrekDesk, the large desk space allows users
to customize their desk in such a way that it is comfortable for them. This also means that users
can set up their desk so that they do not block their treadmill controls at the front of the treadmill
desk.

Health Benefits: It may seem silly, but this really is the best benefit that can come from using the
TrekDesk treadmill desk. By keeping up a gentle pace of 1 mph for a couple of hours a day,
users get enormous benefit. The recommended slow pace is not only advisable for safety
reasons, but because this is the best way of using the TrekDesk to its full potential. A slow
walking pace can be kept up for a couple of hours without any strain to the user, and indeed
provides a welcome change to sitting in an uncomfortable office chair for hours on end.

Once you have a suitable pair of walking shoes, the TrekDesk can provide not only the kind of
benefits you would expect to see from walking a couple of miles a day, but also posture and
back strain benefits. No matter how well ergonomically designed office chairs are, it is not good
for the human back to be sitting in a chair for hours on end leaning over a keyboard. The
TrekDesk gives you not only the benefits of walking, but relief from sitting for extended periods.

TrekDesk Treadmill Desk: The Cons

Stability: The TrekDesk needs to be very securely positioned before use. If you have your
TrekDesk treadmill desk even slightly out of alignment, you will notice stability issues in the form
of a slight side to side movement. This movement may not seem problematic at first, but by its
very nature the TrekDesk will need to accommodate a more vigorous use than your standard
desk.
This issue can be resolved several ways. You can insert a bar between the legs of the
TrekDesk that provides additional stability across its centre of gravity. More simply, you can
position the TrekDesk firmly up against a side wall to give it a firm base. Some users may not
need to do any of these things, but if you do experience any instability issues you should
address them immediately rather than wait for them to progress.

Treadmill Suitability: The TrekDesk treadmill desk claims to be suitable for most types of
treadmills… not all types of treadmills. Before you purchase, you need to consider whether the
TrekDesk will suit your particular treadmill. If you cannot access the treadmill controls, the
TrekDesk will not be practical. This can be very easily checked by simply measuring your
treadmill and comparing it against the TrekDesk’s dimensions before you decide to buy.

                                                                                                2/3
Is the TrekDesk Treadmill Desk Worth Buying?

What the TrekDesk offers is a large treadmill desk that comes separate to the treadmill, and as
such is much more affordable than the combined treadmills and desks on the market. It is a
large desk, and it does not suit every type of treadmill, so you do need to take accurate
measurements before you decide to buy. However, if the sizes do match up, and you do want to
walk while you work, the TrekDesk is one of the best treadmill desks you will find.
