2. 9. Kovind has served as a member on several important Parliamentary Committees.They include
Parliamentary Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas, Parliamentary Committee on Welfare of
Scheduled Castes/Tribes, Parliamentary Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment,
Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs, Parliamentary Committee on Law and Justice. He also
chaired the Rajya Sabha House Committee.
8. 70-year-old Kovind is a Dalit innovator from Kanpur. he was president of the BJP Dalit Morcha
from 1998 to 2002. He has also been President of the All Indian Koli Samaj as well as the SC/ST
representative at IIM-Calcutta. Kovind was twice chosen to Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh in 1994-
2000 and 2000-2006. in the United Nations in New York, He represented India and addressed United
Nations General Assembly in October 2002.
