I am the National Account Manager for Whirlpool Canada, The Brick’s largest appliance supplier. When we worked together, Tony was a Buyer at The Brick, one of Whirlpool’s largest customers. I have worked in the appliance industry for 10 year, and can say with the highest degree of confidence that Tony is a very skilled and seasoned buyer and category merchant. His product knowledge was always fined tuned, and he knew the intricacies of a highly complex consumer durables category. Tony was also a skilled, sometimes tough, always fair, negotiator. He forced me to be on top of my game and to think outside the box at all times. One of Tony’s greatest attributes is his ability to see new opportunities and new ideas. Even in a mature category, such as appliances, Tony always worked diligently to collaborate with me on new ideas and things that had not traditionally been done before. During Tony’s tenure, The Brick and Whirlpool had a banner year together, growing far in excess of the industry and over the previous year’s results, surpassing all expectations and delivering tremendous results and value for both organizations.
