Who  Are  You?    A  Mask-­Construction/Decorating  Project   Welsh/Spedding  Grade  5  PYP                        The  International  School  of  Monterey         Purpose  of  the  Project   Who  are  you?    What  kind  of  person  are  you?    How  are  you  unique?    The  purpose  of  this  project  is  to  explore  these   questions  in  the  form  of  a  thoughtfully  decorated  plaster-­‐gauze  mask.       Your  mask  must  include  the  following  five  elements:       1.    What  kind  of  person  are  you?   Are  you  quiet  and  shy,  or  chatty  and  outgoing?     Are  you  thoughtful  and  planful,  or  impulsive  and  energetic?       Are  you  a  leader  or  a  follower;    a  soloist  or  a  team  player?     Think  about  your  public  side  (when  you’re  in  class  or  with  friends)  and  your  private  side  (when  you’re  alone).       2.    How  are  you  smart?     Here  are    a  few  ideas:     word  smart  (writing  and  speaking)     science/mathematics  smart  (logical)       music  smart  (singing,  rhythm)   moving  smart  (sports,  knitting/sewing)   space  smart  (as  in  the  arts,  or  dance,  or  shooting  a  basketball)   people  smart  (good  friend  radar)   self  smart  (smart  about  who  you  are,  comfortable  in  your  own  skin,  able  to  notice  your  own  moods)   nature  smart  (able  to  notice  patterns  in  clouds,  or  waves,  or  coins)     or  some  combination  of  the  above?       3.    What  do  you  LOOOOOOOOVE  to  do?   The  arts,  or  sports,  or  music,  or  what?       4.    Your  home,  family  and  your  culture.       5.    What  are  your  hopes/dreams  for  the  future?           How  might  you  represent  these  five  areas  in  color,  design,  pictures,  words  or  symbols?
