WELCOME
Welcome to the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS), which provides playing
opportunities for golfers wanting to test their games at the international level. LETAS
bridges the gap between amateur and professional golf and offers a pathway to full
Ladies European Tour (LET) membership. The top five players on the LETAS Ranking
earn membership for the following LET season, while players in sixth to 20th positions
can progress directly to the final stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School, thereby skipping the
first qualifying stage.
Now in our sixth year of operations, we are delighted to present a full schedule of
15 tournaments in 10 different countries. LETAS works in close cooperation with
the Generali Ladies Tour and the Nordea Tour and we would like to thank all of the
federations, promoters, officials, media and volunteers who support our organisation
and players.
We would also like to recognise the important contribution of our sponsors, The R&A
and Lacoste, for contributing to the development of women’s golf, as LETAS becomes
an increasingly attractive proposition for players wishing to progress in the global
game.
As Rolex World Ranking points are awarded at LETAS events, the tournaments are
becoming increasingly competitive with the opportunity for players to appear on the
Olympic Ranking for 2016. At the end of 2014, two LETAS players appeared on the
Olympic Ranking, so we are already on the road to Rio!
Thank you for your support of LETAS. I hope that you will continue to follow the tour
on social media and on the official website, letaccess.com.
Warm regards,

The LET Access Series (LETAS), the official developmental tour to the
Ladies European Tour, has been formed to give players not part of a major tour an
opportunity to compete and progress on to the Ladies European Tour.
The LET Access Series is an important step for the development of women’s
professional golf in Europe, helping to raise awareness of women’s professional golf
generally and bringing additional opportunities to countries developing their women’s
golf programmes.
All female professional golfers and amateurs with a handicap of 2 or better will be
eligible for membership of the LET Access Series, providing they are over 18 years of
age, therefore giving elite amateurs the opportunity to play at the top level against
professionals on a week by week basis.
In 2015, the LET Access Series will feature a minimum schedule of 15 events in ten
different countries.
Since its creation in the UK in 1978, the Ladies European Tour (LET)
has become truly global, with its 310 members representing 36 nations
able to compete in at least 22 tournaments in 16 different countries on
four continents in 2015. Via the LET’s global television distribution, their
game is broadcast to 325 million households in 148 countries.
The LET’s headquarters are at Buckinghamshire Golf Club in Denham,
near London, England.

LOOKING FORWARD
TO THE OLYMPICS
FORMER LETAS PLAYERS ON THE ROAD TO RIO
The LET Access Series events award Rolex World Ranking points to players, which
means that LETAS members have a fantastic opportunity to qualify for the 2016
Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
With just 18 months to go until the first tee shot is struck, two recent stars of LETAS
were in a strong position to qualify.
Switzerland’s Fabienne In-Albon was 51st while ChloĂ© Leurquin of Belgium was 56th
out of the field of 60 women. Both players appeared on the Olympic ranking whilst
playing on LETAS.
Fabienne feels that playing on LETAS really helped her game. She won the 2013 Azores
Ladies Open before moving on to the LET in 2014, where she finished second to
Gwladys Nocera in the Hero Women’s Indian Open in December.
When asked to summarise her experience on LETAS, she quoted basketball analyst
Seth Greenberg, who said: “You don’t have any chance to succeed until you learn how
to compete.”
She added: “LETAS really helps young players to gain experiences as a professional or
on a professional level, which is an important step in order to move on to the next level
at the LET.”
Fellow 2013 LETAS tournament champion Leurquin won the Mineks Ladies Classic
before moving on to the LET and recording a career best finish of 11th in the Xiamen
Open in China. She also feels that LETAS was crucial to her success and said: “The
LETAS was very helpful for my career on the LET because it was a very good transition
between the amateur and the professional world. Moreover winning my card through
the LETAS enabled me to play all the events, even the events with limited fields; events
that can make a difference at the end of the year to be in the top 80 of the ranking.”
Next year’s Olympic Games will take place from August 5-21, 2016, and the women’s
golf will be played on Wednesday August 17-Saturday August 20.
Both players are thrilled about the prospect of qualification when golf returns to the
Olympic programme for the first time in 112 years.
ChloĂ© continued: “I am really excited about the Olympics. I think it is a dream for
every athlete. Now that it is getting nearer, it has become a little bit more real. I know
I am very close to qualifying, but I also know I am on the edge so when I am playing a
tournament I remind myself that every shot can make a difference.”
Fabienne said: “The Olympics have always been a dream for me. Since I was a little
girl I’ve dreamt about competing at the Olympic Games and now I’ve actually got the
chance to make it reality, so this is very special for me and I won’t let go of this dream.
If you have a dream: never stop chasing it!”
Golf was played in the Olympics for the second time in 1904, at St Louis, USA, but at
that time, only men’s competitions were played.
Women’s golf was included at the Paris Olympic Games in 1900, when the 22
participants included 12 men and 10 women from four countries. The women’s
champion was Margaret Abbott while the men’s champion was Charles Sands, both of
the USA. The game’s popularity surged as a response and it is hoped that it will have a
similar effect when the sport returns to the Games in 2016.
Both the format and qualification system for the golf competitions next year are still to
be ratified by the IOC Executive Board, but a 72-hole individual stroke play competition
was the format proposed to the IOC by the International Golf Federation (IGF).
The IOC has restricted the IGF to an Olympic field of 60 players for each of the men’s
and women’s competitions. The top 15 world ranked players will be eligible, with a limit
of four players from a given country. Beyond the top 15, there will be a maximum of
two eligible players from each country that does not already have two or more players
among the top 15.

EMMA WESTIN
2014 LETAS ORDER OF MERIT WINNER
AN INTERVIEW WITH EMMA
What were the highs of your amateur career?
“All the experiences I have got during the years, both as a human and a golf player. This
sport has given me so much more than just the game of golf.”
When did you turn professional?
“I turned pro in 2012 before the season started.”
Why did you join LETAS?
“I joined LETAS because four of the tournaments were included in the Swedish “Nordea
Tour”. It was a great complement to my first two years as a pro. 2014 was my first full
year on the LET Access, and I joined the tour because I thought it would develop me as
a golf player. The second reason I joined LETAS is because if you play good golf all year
it will help you get closer to the Ladies European Tour.”
Did it meet your expectations?
“Yes. It is a great tour and as I said before, girls will develop much more all around the
world because of the LETAS.”
What was the highlight of your 2014 season on LETAS?
“My highlights last season were my three victories and the feelings that came with it.
Of course, another highlight was the moment when I realised I had won the LET Access
Order of Merit.”
Would you recommend others to play on the tour?
“Yes of course, it is a great tour and I think most of the girls are going to love it!”
What are your goals as a rookie on the LET in 2015?
“This year is going to be great. I am looking forward to play a lot of good golf
courses, learn much more about my game and myself at the golf course and get a
lot of new experiences.”
What was the best thing that you learned from last year that you can apply this year?
“One thing that I really appreciate is all the experiences I gained in different situations.
I learned a lot about myself last year, how I feel and how I act in different situations.”

Amy Boulden from Wales clinched a six-hole play-off victory against Kelly Tidy and
Sally Watson to earn her first professional title at the Association Suisse de Golf Ladies
Open on the LET Access Series at Gams-Werdenberg in eastern Switzerland.
The 20-year-old from Conwy Golf Club began the final round of the 54-hole event with
a one stroke lead and played solidly for 16 holes picking up birdies on the fourth and
16th, both par fives but faltered on 17 where she made a ‘good bogey.’
The Ladies European Tour rookie professional then missed a putt of six feet on the 18th
hole to win outright, while Watson and Tidy birdied the hole to force the play-off.
Watson was eliminated with a bogey at the first play-off hole, the par-five 18th. Boulden
and Tidy played the 18th four times then the par-five 9th twice before Boulden was
able to break through for her first professional win.
Sweden’s Isabella Ramsay shot a closing 71 to win the Kristianstad Åhus Ladies PGA
Open by one shot from Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen, who closed with a two
under par, 70.
Ramsay finished at two under par in perfect weather conditions and was pleased to
achieve her first win on the LET Access Series. “Wonderful. This is my biggest win ever.
I had no idea how the scores were. I just played my own game,” said Ramsay, who held
the lead for most of the final round.
Ramsay’s boyfriend, Gustav Larsson, was on hand to caddy. Larsson commented,
“Isabella played solid and although she was nervous, I was never worried. I’m really
happy for Isabella’s sake. She trains a lot, 8-10 hours a day. She has even built a custom
tee at home in the garden where she can hit wedges.”
Ramsay’s goal for this season is to gain her card for the Ladies European Tour in 2015.
Germany’s Steffi Kirchmayr and Scot Laura Murray tied for third place at even par, with
Switzerland’s Melanie Maetzler and Maria Beautell from Spain, a further shot back in 5th
place at one over par.

SÖLVESBORG LADIES
OPEN HOSTED BY
FANNY SUNESSON
Sölvesborg Golf Club, Sölvesborg, Sweden
21 - 23 May 2014
Sweden’s Emma Westin claimed her first victory on the LET Access Series with a two
shot victory over Switzerland’s Melanie Maetzler in the Sölvesborg Ladies Open hosted
by Fanny Sunesson. The Swede shot a closing round of 70 for a total of 214 in sunny
and breezy conditions.
The 22 year-old from Boras had struggled in her previous two seasons on LETAS
and put her strong start to the season down to hard work during the winter months,
especially on her long game. But it was Westin’s putting that helped her to her first
tournament win.
Switzerland’s Melanie Maetzler has also enjoyed a strong start to the LETAS season,
finishing tied 7th in the Association Suisse de Golf Ladies Open, an event she helped to
organise.
England’s Emma Tayler finished in third place on her own at one over par (217). Rookie
Amber Ratcliffe finished in a tie for 4th place alongside Russia’s Galina Rotmistrova at 2
over par, 218.

2014 LETAS ORDER OF MERIT 2ND PLACE
“2014 was my best year on the LETAS. I think it’s a great tour and you need to have
that tour to play well when you get to the LET. It’s a good Challenge Tour. I’m from
Sweden and we have a good tour back home, but this is one step up, so it’s good. It
really helped me to play well as a professional at a high level.”

Mia Piccio from the Philippines won her first title as a professional at the OCA Augas
Santas International Ladies Open, after shooting a final round 69, to win by one shot
from Italy’s Vittoria Valvassori.
The 23 year-old from the Philippines came from three shots behind Sweden’s Lina
Boqvist going into the final round. Both players, along with Italy’s Vittoria Valvassori
played together in the final round and the battle for the title was extremely close going
into the last few holes.
Valvassori drew within one shot of the leader Piccio with back to back birdies on the
15th and 16th holes. Piccio, held her nerve to par the last nine holes to win by one shot.
Spain’s Tania Elosegui and overnight leader, Lina Boqvist, tied for third place at 4 under
par. The Swede struggled on the final day to a 6 over par, 76. France’s Melodie Bourdy
finished in 5th place at 3 under par.
The leading honours for the amateur went to Germany’s Franziska Friedrich with a final
round of 68, finishing tied for 10th (+3).

OPEN GENERALI

Dinard Golf, Saint Briac Sur Mer, France
13 - 15 June 2014
France’s Valentine Derrey shot the low round of the day, 66, to win the Open Generali
de Dinard at Dinard Golf in Saint Briac sur Mer, France, by two shots from Sweden’s
Isabella Ramsay.
Derrey began the final round at 3 under par, one shot behind overnight leader, Vittoria
Valvassori and started the day strongly with a birdie at the 463 yard par five 2nd hole.
The Frenchwoman, who had just celebrated her 27th birthday the week before, also
birdied the 9th and 10th holes to move into the lead at 6 under par and played the final
8 holes in even par to seal her victory.
Ramsay birdied three of the first four holes to reach 5 under par but a double bogey
on the short par four 6th and bogeys on the 8th and 16th holes set back the Swede’s
challenge for her second title of the season, finishing the tournament at 4 under par.
Italian Anna Rossi, a winner on the LET Access Series in the 2012 Azores Ladies Open,
recorded her best result of this season, with a final round of one over par and 3rd place
at 2 under par, 205.

PILSEN GOLF
CHALLENGE
Golf Park Plzeƈ, Prague, Czech Republic
9 - 11 July 2014
Sweden’s Emma Nilsson shot a closing round of 70, for a three round total of 206, to
claim the Pilsen Golf Challenge in a two-hole play-off against France’s Melodie Bourdy.
Bourdy shot a 4 under par 67 to come through the field and put herself in a position to
claim her first title on the LET Access Series.
Nilsson needed a birdie in the final three holes to draw level with the Frenchwoman and
she delivered with a crucial putt on the par four 16th hole, to force a play-off.
On the first extra hole, both players showed signs of nerves, Bourdy coming up short
of the par four 18th green with her approach shot and chipping well past the hole. The
Frenchwoman then failed to hole her 15 foot putt for par, which sat agonisingly on the
edge of the hole. Nilsson just caught the right edge of the green with her approach but
proceeded to three putt, missing from four feet for her par.
Nilsson and Bourdy played the 18th hole twice before a two-putt par on the second
play-off hole was good enough for Nilsson to earn her first LETAS win, which also
earned her a place in the LET Sberbank Golf Masters, played on the same golf course
later in the year.
Three players tied for third place at 6 under par, Switzerland’s Caroline Rominger,
Swaziland’s Nobuhle Dlamini and Lina Boqvist from Sweden.

develop as a professional golfer. It was a good way to get into a tournament routine,
where you had to play a few events in a row and you had to be ready to play well. It
was very nice for me, that there was a professional tour just below the LET where I

EMANUELSSON
Ingarö Golf Club, Stockholm, Sweden
7 - 9 August 2014
Spain’s Marta Sanz Barrio shot a closing 65, five under par, to win the Ingarö Ladies
Open hosted by Elin Emanuelsson. Sanz Barrio finished three shots ahead of joint
overnight leader Caroline Rominger from Switzerland.
After starting slowly with bogeys on the 1st and 2nd, Sanz Barrio found her best form,
scoring nine birdies and a further two bogeys in the remaining sixteen holes. Sanz
Barrio, whose older sister, Patricia Sanz Barrio graduated from LETAS on to the LET last
season, was delighted with her victory. She said: “ It feels great, I have been close the
past tournaments and to finally win means a lot to me.”
Rominger enjoyed her best finish on the LET Access Series this year with her second
place finish, moving up to 9th on the LETAS Order of Merit and within striking distance
of the top five positions.
England’s Georgia Hall, who was tied with Rominger going into the final day, closed
with a two over par, 72 to finish at 2 under par and in third place. Hall was taking part in
her first professional event since she left the amateur ranks.

LETAS TROPHY
Rinkven Golf Club, Gravenwezel, Belgium
17 - 19 July 2014
Sweden’s Isabella Ramsay claimed her second LETAS title of the season, winning the
Royal Belgian Golf Federation LETAS Trophy at Rinkven Golf Club. Ramsay shot a
closing round of 71, for a three round total of 209 for the win.
Ramsay struggled on the opening holes of the final round, dropping shots on the 1st,
3rd, and 5th holes, before steadying herself to make four birdies in row on the 11th, 12th,
13th and 14th and a further birdie on the 17th to seal her victory.
Spanish amateur Marta Sanz Barrio took the runner up spot at four under par. Sanz
Barrio, the younger sister of LET rookie Patricia Sanz Barrio, enjoyed the round of the
tournament with eight birdies on her card and just two bogeys for an impressive 66, to
claim second place.
England’s Kiran Matharu closed with a round of level par to finish in third position at
three under, 213. A further shot back in fourth, was overnight leader Emma Westin of
Sweden who struggled in her closing round.

2014 LETAS ORDER OF MERIT 4TH PLACE
“LETAS has been extremely important for the next step in my career. Compared to
qualifying school, LETAS gives you an opportunity to compete for a whole season and
fight for your LET card. It made me more confident to know that I am prepared in the
best possible way for the next step. LETAS has developed really fast from year to year,
getting better and better and I am sure it will keep on improving. Trying to live our
dream and make a living from what we love, it’s crucial that LETAS exists! I recommend
all players to develop and enjoy their golf while playing LETAS.”

Sweden’s Emma Nilsson claimed her second LET Access Series title of the season at
the Ladies Norwegian Challenge, with a winning total of three-under-par, after the
event was shortened to 36 holes due to heavy rain.
It was an exciting final round as Norwegian amateur Tonje Daffinrud and LETAS order
of merit leader Isabella Ramsay both challenged the leader before Norway’s Rachel
Margrethe Raastad came through the field with three birdies in her last five holes for a
final round 70 to end in second place on one-under-par.
Nilsson, from Solvesborgs Golfklubb, shot a final round of 72, containing three birdies,
a bogey and a double bogey. She saved her best until last by making a birdie putt of 12
metres on the final hole for a level par round of 72 and a two shot victory.

Sweden’s Emma Westin won for the second time on the LET Access Series with a
record breaking eleven shot victory, finishing at 11 under par in the HLR Golf Academy
Open, at Hillside Golf & Country Club in Vihti, Finland.
Westin started the final day with an eight shot lead, which she further extended with
birdies on the 1st and 2nd holes in the final round. With such a solid start, it would be
difficult for anyone in the field to catch the young Swede. Westin’s winning margin
broke the LETAS record by six shots. It also moved the 23-year-old into 2nd place on
the LETAS Order of Merit.
Scotland’s Jane Turner produced her best result on LETAS in her rookie season, with
a closing 72, to finish at even par in second place and Germany’s Isabell Gabsa shot
70, to finish at one over par and third place on her own. Local favourite Finland’s Kaisa
Ruuttila, Daisy Nielsen from Denmark and Norwegian amateur Tonje Daffinrud finished
tied for fourth place at +2, 215.

Sweden’s Lina Boqvist won for the first time on the LET Access Series, with a victory
on the first play-off hole at the Onsjö Ladies Open.
On a final day, which mixed rain showers with sunny spells, Boqvist fought her way
to the top of the leaderboard with four birdies in her final eleven holes. Her playing
partner, fellow Swede Lynn Carlsson had the opportunity to draw level on the final hole
with a birdie, which she duly converted.
Both players matched each other with two perfect drives on the first play-off hole, the
par four 345 metre 18th, with their approach shots both finishing within 5 metres of the
flag. Boqvist, the first to putt for birdie holed out, putting the pressure on her fellow
countrywoman. Carlsson missed her birdie chance and the trophy and title belonged to
Boqvist.
Spanish amateur Luna Sobron shot a final round course record 66, 6 under par,
finishing with four birdies in her last four holes.
Norway’s Cecilie Lundgreen shot a closing 70, 2 under par, to finish in fourth place
and Swede Johanna Bjork also scored a final round 70 to finish a shot further back at 1
under par and fifth position.

TONJE DAFFINRUD
2014 LETAS ORDER OF MERIT 5TH PLACE
“The LET Access Series was a great way for me to prepare for the LET and professional
life in general. I was able to play eight LETAS events in 2014 and through that tour I got
my LET card. The tournaments were all well organised and enabled me to compete and
play all over Europe. It was a great middle step for me as I progressed from my amateur
career into professional golf.”

OPEN GENERALI
DE STRASBOURG
England’s Georgia Hall recorded her first win as a professional at the Open Generali de
Strasbourg with a four shot victory over a trio of players, finishing at 10 under par.
The former European ladies number one amateur started the day in a tie for the lead
with France’s Cassandra Kirkland and Vittoria Valvassori from Italy at 6 under par and the
talented young player pulled ahead with birdies on the 3rd and 4th holes. The 18-year-old
then bogeyed the 5th and 8th holes and Kirkland birdied the 6th to pull ahead by a shot.
Four birdies in a row from the 10th to the 13th gave Hall the momentum to forge a
comfortable lead, which she consolidated with pars on the final five holes. The former
Curtis Cup player was keen to secure her first professional win and adopting a calm
approach had assisted in achieving her goal.
Kirkland finished in a tie for second place at 6 under par, alongside Denmark’s Daisy
Nielsen (71) and Belgian Manon de Roey, who finished as the top amateur.

AZORES LADIES OPEN
NorwayÂŽs Tonje Daffinrud won the Azores Ladies Open at Golf de Batalha to claim
her first professional title, with a three shot win over the Czech RepublicÂŽs Daniela
Prorokova.
Daffinrud started the final day at 5 under par, one shot ahead of Prorokova and two
ahead of Switzerland’s Caroline Rominger. The Norwegian quickly fell behind with
bogeys on the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th in tough, windy conditions.
Prorokova played steadily on the opening nine holes, matching two birdies with two
bogeys to take a three shot lead. But a string of four bogeys on the back nine put paid
to the 21-year-old’s opportunity to win her first title on the LET Access Series, finishing
at one under par and taking second place.
A run of late bogeys ruined Rominger’s chances and gave Daffinrud a glimmer of hope
that she could still claim her first professional win.
The 23-year-old from Tonsberg pulled away from both Rominger and Prorokova with
three birdies in her final three holes to claim her first professional victory in only her
second event in the paid ranks.

WPGA INTERNATIONAL
CHALLENGE
Daisy Nielsen of Denmark and France’s Melodie Bourdy produced a thrilling and tense end
to the season’s LET Access Series at Stoke by Nayland Hotel Golf & Spa.
Both players ended the 54-hole WPGA International Challenge level on seven-under-par
after completing the final round in two-under.
Cue a sudden-death play-off at the par three 18th in front of a packed gallery.
Both players negotiated it in par at the first attempt and Bourdy, having left her tee shot
short of the green and subsequent chip eight feet shy of the hole, followed suit at the
second time of asking.
All of which left Nielsen to hold her nerve and hole an eight foot putt for a tournament-
winning birdie and claim the €4,871 winner’s cheque.
That represents the biggest prize of her short career but an even bigger one is the
coveted Ladies European Tour card courtesy of finishing third in the Order of Merit.
“It means so much to me,” she said. “It’s so nice to have got my card. It’s been amazing
to have played on this tour this year. There have been 16 tournaments and they’ve been a
great preparation for the Ladies European Tour.”

GRECOTEL AMIRANDES
LADIES OPEN
Crete Golf Club, Hersonissos, Greece
10 - 12 October 2014
Norway’s Tonje Daffinrud shot an even par 71 in the final round of the Grecotel
Amirandes Ladies Open at Crete Golf Club, to win by three shots from Denmark’s Daisy
Nielsen and record back-to-back wins on the LET Access Series.
Daffinrud, a professional for just over a month, won the Azores Ladies Open in only her
second event in the paid ranks the week before, adding the Grecotel Amirandes Ladies
Open title for an impressive start to her career.
The 23-year-old from Tonsberg started the final round with a three shot lead over
Nielsen, which she extended to five, with birdies on the 2nd and 6th holes, as
Nielsen bogeyed the opening hole. The young Norwegian never looked in danger of
relinquishing her comfortable lead, even after a string of three birdies in a row from the
14th to 16th holes for Nielsen narrowed the gap to three shots.
Sweden’s Anna Svenstrup, enjoyed her season best finish in a tie for third place
alongside recent Open Generali de Strasbourg winner, Georgia Hall, at 2 under par, 211.

  • 3. WELCOME Welcome to the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS), which provides playing opportunities for golfers wanting to test their games at the international level. LETAS bridges the gap between amateur and professional golf and offers a pathway to full Ladies European Tour (LET) membership. The top five players on the LETAS Ranking earn membership for the following LET season, while players in sixth to 20th positions can progress directly to the final stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School, thereby skipping the first qualifying stage. Now in our sixth year of operations, we are delighted to present a full schedule of 15 tournaments in 10 different countries. LETAS works in close cooperation with the Generali Ladies Tour and the Nordea Tour and we would like to thank all of the federations, promoters, officials, media and volunteers who support our organisation and players. We would also like to recognise the important contribution of our sponsors, The R&A and Lacoste, for contributing to the development of women’s golf, as LETAS becomes an increasingly attractive proposition for players wishing to progress in the global game. As Rolex World Ranking points are awarded at LETAS events, the tournaments are becoming increasingly competitive with the opportunity for players to appear on the Olympic Ranking for 2016. At the end of 2014, two LETAS players appeared on the Olympic Ranking, so we are already on the road to Rio! Thank you for your support of LETAS. I hope that you will continue to follow the tour on social media and on the official website, letaccess.com. • 4. The LET Access Series (LETAS), the official developmental tour to the Ladies European Tour, has been formed to give players not part of a major tour an opportunity to compete and progress on to the Ladies European Tour. The LET Access Series is an important step for the development of women’s professional golf in Europe, helping to raise awareness of women’s professional golf generally and bringing additional opportunities to countries developing their women’s golf programmes. All female professional golfers and amateurs with a handicap of 2 or better will be eligible for membership of the LET Access Series, providing they are over 18 years of age, therefore giving elite amateurs the opportunity to play at the top level against professionals on a week by week basis. In 2015, the LET Access Series will feature a minimum schedule of 15 events in ten different countries. Since its creation in the UK in 1978, the Ladies European Tour (LET) has become truly global, with its 310 members representing 36 nations able to compete in at least 22 tournaments in 16 different countries on four continents in 2015. Via the LET’s global television distribution, their game is broadcast to 325 million households in 148 countries. The LET’s headquarters are at Buckinghamshire Golf Club in Denham, near London, England. • 6. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE OLYMPICS FORMER LETAS PLAYERS ON THE ROAD TO RIO The LET Access Series events award Rolex World Ranking points to players, which means that LETAS members have a fantastic opportunity to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. With just 18 months to go until the first tee shot is struck, two recent stars of LETAS were in a strong position to qualify. Switzerland’s Fabienne In-Albon was 51st while ChloĂ© Leurquin of Belgium was 56th out of the field of 60 women. Both players appeared on the Olympic ranking whilst playing on LETAS. Fabienne feels that playing on LETAS really helped her game. She won the 2013 Azores Ladies Open before moving on to the LET in 2014, where she finished second to Gwladys Nocera in the Hero Women’s Indian Open in December. When asked to summarise her experience on LETAS, she quoted basketball analyst Seth Greenberg, who said: “You don’t have any chance to succeed until you learn how to compete.” She added: “LETAS really helps young players to gain experiences as a professional or on a professional level, which is an important step in order to move on to the next level at the LET.” Fellow 2013 LETAS tournament champion Leurquin won the Mineks Ladies Classic before moving on to the LET and recording a career best finish of 11th in the Xiamen Open in China. She also feels that LETAS was crucial to her success and said: “The LETAS was very helpful for my career on the LET because it was a very good transition between the amateur and the professional world. Moreover winning my card through the LETAS enabled me to play all the events, even the events with limited fields; events that can make a difference at the end of the year to be in the top 80 of the ranking.” Next year’s Olympic Games will take place from August 5-21, 2016, and the women’s golf will be played on Wednesday August 17-Saturday August 20. Both players are thrilled about the prospect of qualification when golf returns to the Olympic programme for the first time in 112 years. ChloĂ© continued: “I am really excited about the Olympics. I think it is a dream for every athlete. Now that it is getting nearer, it has become a little bit more real. I know I am very close to qualifying, but I also know I am on the edge so when I am playing a tournament I remind myself that every shot can make a difference.” Fabienne said: “The Olympics have always been a dream for me. Since I was a little girl I’ve dreamt about competing at the Olympic Games and now I’ve actually got the chance to make it reality, so this is very special for me and I won’t let go of this dream. If you have a dream: never stop chasing it!” Golf was played in the Olympics for the second time in 1904, at St Louis, USA, but at that time, only men’s competitions were played. Women’s golf was included at the Paris Olympic Games in 1900, when the 22 participants included 12 men and 10 women from four countries. The women’s champion was Margaret Abbott while the men’s champion was Charles Sands, both of the USA. The game’s popularity surged as a response and it is hoped that it will have a similar effect when the sport returns to the Games in 2016. Both the format and qualification system for the golf competitions next year are still to be ratified by the IOC Executive Board, but a 72-hole individual stroke play competition was the format proposed to the IOC by the International Golf Federation (IGF). The IOC has restricted the IGF to an Olympic field of 60 players for each of the men’s and women’s competitions. The top 15 world ranked players will be eligible, with a limit of four players from a given country. Beyond the top 15, there will be a maximum of two eligible players from each country that does not already have two or more players among the top 15. 9 10
  • 7. EMMA WESTIN 2014 LETAS ORDER OF MERIT WINNER AN INTERVIEW WITH EMMA What were the highs of your amateur career? “All the experiences I have got during the years, both as a human and a golf player. This sport has given me so much more than just the game of golf.” When did you turn professional? “I turned pro in 2012 before the season started.” Why did you join LETAS? “I joined LETAS because four of the tournaments were included in the Swedish “Nordea Tour”. It was a great complement to my first two years as a pro. 2014 was my first full year on the LET Access, and I joined the tour because I thought it would develop me as a golf player. The second reason I joined LETAS is because if you play good golf all year it will help you get closer to the Ladies European Tour.” Did it meet your expectations? “Yes. It is a great tour and as I said before, girls will develop much more all around the world because of the LETAS.” What was the highlight of your 2014 season on LETAS? “My highlights last season were my three victories and the feelings that came with it. Of course, another highlight was the moment when I realised I had won the LET Access Order of Merit.” Would you recommend others to play on the tour? “Yes of course, it is a great tour and I think most of the girls are going to love it!” What are your goals as a rookie on the LET in 2015? “This year is going to be great. I am looking forward to play a lot of good golf courses, learn much more about my game and myself at the golf course and get a lot of new experiences.” What was the best thing that you learned from last year that you can apply this year? “One thing that I really appreciate is all the experiences I gained in different situations. I learned a lot about myself last year, how I feel and how I act in different situations.” 2014 Order of Merit Winner, Emma Westin11 12 EMMA LIKES TO PAINT TO RELAX FUN FACT
  • 8. ASSOCIATION SUISSE DE GOLF LADIES OPEN Gams-Werdenberg Golf Club, Gams, Switzerland 2 - 4 May 2014 KRISTIANSTAD ÅHUS LADIES PGA OPEN Kristianstad Golf Club, Åhus, Sweden 15 - 17 May 2014 Amy Boulden from Wales clinched a six-hole play-off victory against Kelly Tidy and Sally Watson to earn her first professional title at the Association Suisse de Golf Ladies Open on the LET Access Series at Gams-Werdenberg in eastern Switzerland. The 20-year-old from Conwy Golf Club began the final round of the 54-hole event with a one stroke lead and played solidly for 16 holes picking up birdies on the fourth and 16th, both par fives but faltered on 17 where she made a ‘good bogey.’ The Ladies European Tour rookie professional then missed a putt of six feet on the 18th hole to win outright, while Watson and Tidy birdied the hole to force the play-off. Watson was eliminated with a bogey at the first play-off hole, the par-five 18th. Boulden and Tidy played the 18th four times then the par-five 9th twice before Boulden was able to break through for her first professional win. Sweden’s Isabella Ramsay shot a closing 71 to win the Kristianstad Åhus Ladies PGA Open by one shot from Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen, who closed with a two under par, 70. Ramsay finished at two under par in perfect weather conditions and was pleased to achieve her first win on the LET Access Series. “Wonderful. This is my biggest win ever. I had no idea how the scores were. I just played my own game,” said Ramsay, who held the lead for most of the final round. Ramsay’s boyfriend, Gustav Larsson, was on hand to caddy. Larsson commented, “Isabella played solid and although she was nervous, I was never worried. I’m really happy for Isabella’s sake. She trains a lot, 8-10 hours a day. She has even built a custom tee at home in the garden where she can hit wedges.” Ramsay’s goal for this season is to gain her card for the Ladies European Tour in 2015. Germany’s Steffi Kirchmayr and Scot Laura Murray tied for third place at even par, with Switzerland’s Melanie Maetzler and Maria Beautell from Spain, a further shot back in 5th place at one over par. SÖLVESBORG LADIES OPEN HOSTED BY FANNY SUNESSON Sölvesborg Golf Club, Sölvesborg, Sweden 21 - 23 May 2014 Sweden’s Emma Westin claimed her first victory on the LET Access Series with a two shot victory over Switzerland’s Melanie Maetzler in the Sölvesborg Ladies Open hosted by Fanny Sunesson. The Swede shot a closing round of 70 for a total of 214 in sunny and breezy conditions. The 22 year-old from Boras had struggled in her previous two seasons on LETAS and put her strong start to the season down to hard work during the winter months, especially on her long game. But it was Westin’s putting that helped her to her first tournament win. Switzerland’s Melanie Maetzler has also enjoyed a strong start to the LETAS season, finishing tied 7th in the Association Suisse de Golf Ladies Open, an event she helped to organise. England’s Emma Tayler finished in third place on her own at one over par (217). Rookie Amber Ratcliffe finished in a tie for 4th place alongside Russia’s Galina Rotmistrova at 2 over par, 218. The 23 year-old from the Philippines came from three shots behind Sweden’s Lina Boqvist going into the final round. Both players, along with Italy’s Vittoria Valvassori played together in the final round and the battle for the title was extremely close going into the last few holes. Valvassori drew within one shot of the leader Piccio with back to back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes. Piccio, held her nerve to par the last nine holes to win by one shot. Spain’s Tania Elosegui and overnight leader, Lina Boqvist, tied for third place at 4 under par. The Swede struggled on the final day to a 6 over par, 76. France’s Melodie Bourdy finished in 5th place at 3 under par. The leading honours for the amateur went to Germany’s Franziska Friedrich with a final round of 68, finishing tied for 10th (+3). Derrey began the final round at 3 under par, one shot behind overnight leader, Vittoria Valvassori and started the day strongly with a birdie at the 463 yard par five 2nd hole. The Frenchwoman, who had just celebrated her 27th birthday the week before, also birdied the 9th and 10th holes to move into the lead at 6 under par and played the final 8 holes in even par to seal her victory. Ramsay birdied three of the first four holes to reach 5 under par but a double bogey on the short par four 6th and bogeys on the 8th and 16th holes set back the Swede’s challenge for her second title of the season, finishing the tournament at 4 under par. PILSEN GOLF CHALLENGE Golf Park Plzeƈ, Prague, Czech Republic 9 - 11 July 2014 Sweden’s Emma Nilsson shot a closing round of 70, for a three round total of 206, to claim the Pilsen Golf Challenge in a two-hole play-off against France’s Melodie Bourdy. Bourdy shot a 4 under par 67 to come through the field and put herself in a position to claim her first title on the LET Access Series. Nilsson needed a birdie in the final three holes to draw level with the Frenchwoman and she delivered with a crucial putt on the par four 16th hole, to force a play-off. On the first extra hole, both players showed signs of nerves, Bourdy coming up short of the par four 18th green with her approach shot and chipping well past the hole. The Frenchwoman then failed to hole her 15 foot putt for par, which sat agonisingly on the edge of the hole. Nilsson just caught the right edge of the green with her approach but proceeded to three putt, missing from four feet for her par. Nilsson and Bourdy played the 18th hole twice before a two-putt par on the second play-off hole was good enough for Nilsson to earn her first LETAS win, which also earned her a place in the LET Sberbank Golf Masters, played on the same golf course later in the year. Three players tied for third place at 6 under par, Switzerland’s Caroline Rominger, Swaziland’s Nobuhle Dlamini and Lina Boqvist from Sweden. Westin started the final day with an eight shot lead, which she further extended with birdies on the 1st and 2nd holes in the final round. With such a solid start, it would be difficult for anyone in the field to catch the young Swede. Westin’s winning margin broke the LETAS record by six shots. It also moved the 23-year-old into 2nd place on the LETAS Order of Merit. Scotland’s Jane Turner produced her best result on LETAS in her rookie season, with a closing 72, to finish at even par in second place and Germany’s Isabell Gabsa shot 70, to finish at one over par and third place on her own. Both players matched each other with two perfect drives on the first play-off hole, the par four 345 metre 18th, with their approach shots both finishing within 5 metres of the flag. Boqvist, the first to putt for birdie holed out, putting the pressure on her fellow countrywoman. Carlsson missed her birdie chance and the trophy and title belonged to Boqvist. Spanish amateur Luna Sobron shot a final round course record 66, 6 under par, finishing with four birdies in her last four holes. With back to back wins, Westin became the first player on the LET Access Series to record three wins in one season and her victory took her to the top of the LETAS Order of Merit. She also received an invitation to play in the LET’s Open de Espana Feminino, which was held at Golf Costa Adeje from the 18th – 21st September. India’s Vani Kapoor played impressively all week to finish in third place with rounds of 75, 72, 72 and a total of 219. England’s Suzanne Dickens recorded her best finish this season, finishing in fourth place at three over par 224. Second round leader Caroline Rominger struggled to a final round of seven over par 80 to tie for fifth place with England’s Charlotte Wild (74) and Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen (76). National Golf Club, Belek, Antalya, Turkey 5 - 7 September 2014 TONJE DAFFINRUD 2014 LETAS ORDER OF MERIT 5TH PLACE “The LET Access Series was a great way for me to prepare for the LET and professional life in general. I was able to play eight LETAS events in 2014 and through that tour I got my LET card. The tournaments were all well organised and enabled me to compete and play all over Europe. It was a great middle step for me as I progressed from my amateur career into professional golf.” 2014 Order of Merit 5th place, Tonje Daffinrud29 30 TONJE DESCRIBES HERSELF AS A FOODIE AND LOVES SUSHI FUN FACT

The former European ladies number one amateur started the day in a tie for the lead with France’s Cassandra Kirkland and Vittoria Valvassori from Italy at 6 under par and the talented young player pulled ahead with birdies on the 3rd and 4th holes. The 18-year-old then bogeyed the 5th and 8th holes and Kirkland birdied the 6th to pull ahead by a shot. Four birdies in a row from the 10th to the 13th gave Hall the momentum to forge a comfortable lead, which she consolidated with pars on the final five holes. The former Curtis Cup player was keen to secure her first professional win and adopting a calm approach had assisted in achieving her goal. Kirkland finished in a tie for second place at 6 under par, alongside Denmark’s Daisy Nielsen (71) and Belgian Manon de Roey, who finished as the top amateur. Golf Club de Strasbourg, Illkirch-Graffenstaden, France 25 - 27 September 2014 AZORES LADIES OPEN NorwayÂŽs Tonje Daffinrud won the Azores Ladies Open at Golf de Batalha to claim her first professional title, with a three shot win over the Czech RepublicÂŽs Daniela Prorokova. Daffinrud started the final day at 5 under par, one shot ahead of Prorokova and two ahead of Switzerland’s Caroline Rominger. The Norwegian quickly fell behind with bogeys on the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th in tough, windy conditions. Prorokova played steadily on the opening nine holes, matching two birdies with two bogeys to take a three shot lead. But a string of four bogeys on the back nine put paid to the 21-year-old’s opportunity to win her first title on the LET Access Series, finishing at one under par and taking second place. A run of late bogeys ruined Rominger’s chances and gave Daffinrud a glimmer of hope that she could still claim her first professional win. The 23-year-old from Tonsberg pulled away from both Rominger and Prorokova with three birdies in her final three holes to claim her first professional victory in only her second event in the paid ranks. Both players ended the 54-hole WPGA International Challenge level on seven-under-par after completing the final round in two-under. Cue a sudden-death play-off at the par three 18th in front of a packed gallery. Both players negotiated it in par at the first attempt and Bourdy, having left her tee shot short of the green and subsequent chip eight feet shy of the hole, followed suit at the second time of asking. All of which left Nielsen to hold her nerve and hole an eight foot putt for a tournament- winning birdie and claim the €4,871 winner’s cheque. That represents the biggest prize of her short career but an even bigger one is the coveted Ladies European Tour card courtesy of finishing third in the Order of Merit. “It means so much to me,” she said. “It’s so nice to have got my card. It’s been amazing to have played on this tour this year. There have been 16 tournaments and they’ve been a great preparation for the Ladies European Tour.” Stoke by Nayland Hotel Golf & Spa, Levenheath, United Kingdom 16 - 18 October 2014 GRECOTEL AMIRANDES LADIES OPEN Crete Golf Club, Hersonissos, Greece 10 - 12 October 2014 Norway’s Tonje Daffinrud shot an even par 71 in the final round of the Grecotel Amirandes Ladies Open at Crete Golf Club, to win by three shots from Denmark’s Daisy Nielsen and record back-to-back wins on the LET Access Series. Daffinrud, a professional for just over a month, won the Azores Ladies Open in only her second event in the paid ranks the week before, adding the Grecotel Amirandes Ladies Open title for an impressive start to her career. The 23-year-old from Tonsberg started the final round with a three shot lead over Nielsen, which she extended to five, with birdies on the 2nd and 6th holes, as Nielsen bogeyed the opening hole. The young Norwegian never looked in danger of relinquishing her comfortable lead, even after a string of three birdies in a row from the 14th to 16th holes for Nielsen narrowed the gap to three shots. Sweden’s Anna Svenstrup, enjoyed her season best finish in a tie for third place alongside recent Open Generali de Strasbourg winner, Georgia Hall, at 2 under par, 211.
