2. Cardanol is distilled from Cashew Nut Shell Liquid
(CNSL) - a batch of de-carboxylated CNSL is heated to
260 degree Celsius under Vacuum of 1-2 Torr (758 to
759 mmHg in the reactor. Usually it is observed that after
few minutes of Heating, Vapors of Cardanol start coming
into the condenser which usually has utilities of cooling
tower water.
The liquid is then collected into the receiver and it is
usually observed to be a Batch Process Or in rare case a
continuous process using Thin Film/ Wiped Film
Evaporators
4. Cardanol and its Derivatives are also used as
modifiers in coatings, adhesives, sealants, rubber,
plastic, elastomers, composites and inks, in coating
granules used for fertilizers, insecticides, mosquito
larviciding, fungicides, drying agents and as plant
protection agents.
