2. 1 Corinthians 2: 1-16
Read verses 1-5:
And so it was with me, brothers and sisters.
When I came to you, I did not come with
eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to
you the testimony about God. For I resolved to
know nothing while I was with you except Jesus
Christ and him crucified. I came to you in
weakness with great fear and trembling. My
message and my preaching were not with wise
and persuasive words, but with a demonstration
of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might
not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
8. Joel 2:30-31 (KJV)
30 And I will shew wonders in the
heavens and in the earth, blood, and
fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into
darkness, and the moon into
blood, before the great and terrible day
of the LORD come.
9. Matthew 24:5-8 (KJV)
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am
Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars:
see that ye be not troubled: for all these things
must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and
kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be
famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in
divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
11. Prophecy
is a process in which one or
more messages that have been
communicated to a prophet, are then
communicated to others. Such
messages typically
involve divine inspiration, interpretatio
n, or revelation of conditioned events to
come.
13. Biblical Definition of Prophecy
Prophecy has at least two
connotations in the Bible -
fore-telling and forth-
telling.
14. Exodus 7:1-2(KJV)
1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I
have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and
Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
2 Thou shalt speak all that I command
thee: and Aaron thy brother shall
speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the
children of Israel out of his land.
15. As Bible believers, we put our
faith only in the prophecies
mentioned in God‟s word – the
Holy Bible – from Genesis to
Revelation, and not in the word
of man outside of the bible, as
was Malachy and the
“prophecy” of Petrus Romanus.
16. 2 Timothy 3:16-17(KJV)
16 Allscripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be
perfect, thoroughly furnished
unto all good works.
17. Questions:
“I find the Bible difficult to understand
sometimes.”
“I am confused by the different
interpretations I have heard.”
“How can I determine if a particular
interpretation is right or wrong?”
