Natural Selection <ul><li>A process where favorable traits that are heritable (can be passed down to the next generation) become more common in the following generations of a population and poor traits become less common. </li></ul><ul><li>Natural selection acts on the phenotype ( the observable characteristics of an organism), so that individuals with favorable phenotypes are more likely to survive and reproduce than those with less favorable phenotypes </li></ul>
