CloudTest: Test the Cloud with CloudTest
1. “ Test the Cloud with CloudTest
”
Conference session by Sergey Sundukovskiy
Cloud computing sets a new trend in the way IT infrastructure operates, enabling greater
responsiveness and lower costs across companies of all sizes. There are many Cloud
products presented in the market today to help companies satisfy their growing needs for
powerful performance and functionality. Cloud products and Cloud-targeted application are
designed for companies that are either building their applications in the Cloud from scratch
or that are replacing substantial portions of their federated services. This session is aimed
at helping Cloud runners and Cloud starters choose Cloud products and services that suit
their business and technology requirements.
SESSION DESCRIPTION
During this session, the speaker will concentrate on Cloud computing challenges and de-
scribe ways to provide high performance and operability with Cloud products. You will
learn about CloudTest—a solution that provides load testing as a service for Web and mo-
bile applications—and about using this product in a typical Business Environment.
AGENDA
What is CloudTest?
After attending this session, you will learn how CloudTest allows customers to imple-
ment pre-defined on-demand testing scenarios or design customized test cases using
JavaScript to check load, performance, functionality, and GUI efficiency. The speaker
will start with CloudTest's main features overview, followed by a detailed discussion of
how CloudTest can leverage thousands of Amazon EC2 instances to simulate the ac-
tivity of a significant number of virtual visitors and transactions, reaching several mil-
lion in one hour.
Why CloudTest?
You will learn what makes CloudTest a Cloud product of choice for a great number of
Cloud Runners and Cloud Starters. The speaker will analyze how CloudTest can be
used to test applications hosted both in-house (behind a firewall) and in the cloud
(such as Amazon EC2, Xen, etc.). The results of the testing may be searched by mes-
sages, by errors, or by values, simplifying the performed analysis. The speaker will
discuss CloudTest features, including an Ajax-based user interface and an analytic
memory service that handles large results sets and synchronizes data from distributed
tests. The speaker will also specifically focus on such features as browser-
independence and support for common Web-based standards, including SOAP,
REST, HTTP(S), HTML, JSON, etc.

CloudTest Recommended Use
In the course of the session, you will learn how CloudTest can fit your Business and
Technology Requirements. CloudTest is designed to perform extremely massive Web-
scale tests, identifying and coping with performance issues through deployment and
into production. The solution may also be of interest to those who need a controlled
environment for real-world scenario simulations and execution of tests in-house, most
commonly against development and QA environments. The speaker will help you learn
about the value CloudTest can add to managing your products and services.
Cloud Testing Challenges
At the end of the session, you will learn about some challenges that companies en-
counter when choosing products and services for testing their applications in the
Cloud. The discussion will include such issues as loadbalancing, autoscaling, failover,
and resource tuning.
Finally, you will be able to participate in a question-and-answer session, discussing the
challenges related to your specific Cloud Computing needs.
